Holy Ebay Rat Feather's

Recommended Posts

This is the same company that I bought my wheel from a couple weeks ago. Got the wheel with a brand new 404 Dunlop on it for $89 plus $33 shipping. The tire alone is worth that. I won the tire on sunday and had it on thursday. Great service.

Right after I got the bike I found an exhaust leak,Cracked Y pipe.Found out about pinwall cycles here and checked them out.I bought a complete exhaust system with mufflers for $200.00.Just a new"Y" pipe from the stealer cost $600.00.After I recieved the pipes 3days later, I found some pin holes in the other pipe, changed out both pipes.I think I made out pretty good on that deal.saved myself about $1000.00.and the new exhaust system only had 15000 miles on it.

Not sure I understand the K&N vs. OEM filter statement??? Since the OEM filter won't work with the billet cover, does that mean the K&N's will not work with an OEM cover??? Why would there be a difference, if any?? Would just like to know....?? :confused07:
Its been a couple of years sinse I changed mine but the best I remember the stock filter has a raised portion on the back side making them taller than the k&n. The best I remember there is a thick gasket to use with k&ns and stock covers and the gasket is not used with billet covers.

Got a run around from the local chrome shops.plus it's not all that cheap.seems like they dont' want to deal with a small job like this.anywayThis was a lot easier.don't know yet what I'm doing with the set I have.Maybe I can sell them for $272.00 and recoop my losses.:whistling::crackup:

Take them to a shop that does car show chrome.. Locally we have one called sherm's, no job is too small. If you don't want to mess with them and want to get rid of those ugly old covers, give me a shout.... :)

If I remember correctly, the original filters on the '99 RSV would work with the chrome covers. Yamaha had some problems though with those filters separating from the base. I think the filters on later models were different. After they were changed, I think they were too deep to work with the chrome covers so that was when you started having to use the K&N filters. If your filters are working with the chrome covers, you may be running some REALLY old air filters and it may be time to think about some new ones.

I have seen a number of these chrome covers with the chrome starting to flake off. I think they do a very poor job chroming these things. I will have mine re-chromed properly before I buy another set that will probably eventually peel also.

I agree with Freebird, these filters look pretty old.I wasn't able to get a lot of info on this bike when I bought it because the original owner died several years ago and the second owner didn't use it much when he owned it.I believe it set around for a long time with little or no use.As far as re chromming the covers its to late for me since I now own the new covers I pick up on ebay.Hopfully I will get a few years of use out of these before they peel.

Condor,I'll let you know what I'm going to do with the old covers. Are you interested in chrome frame covers that are peeling?
