halfwitt Posted October 29, 2010 #2 Posted October 29, 2010 I saw that video last night. She probably didn't have five bars in 1928 but it's fun to try to figure out what she's doing. Someone suggested a type of hearing aid. I like to think she's saying, "Can you hear me now?"
Mariner Fan Posted October 29, 2010 #3 Posted October 29, 2010 It's really hard to see. She could just have a headache and was holding her hand next to her head. Pretty cool though!!
ThomWill Posted October 29, 2010 #4 Posted October 29, 2010 just shows that THEY have been amongst us since the black and white days!!! I am sure she was asking for a "beam-up" to get out of those dated clothing.
hipshot Posted October 29, 2010 #5 Posted October 29, 2010 Actually , Thom, she's talking to her stock broker about "NEXT YEAR"! he's telling her BUY,BUY, BUY!!!! lol just jt
Trader Posted October 30, 2010 #6 Posted October 30, 2010 I figured it was just some dim witted "extra" in an low budget old movie remake. Like having a wrist watch on the gun slinger ....or seeing a jet trail over the prarie in a Western.

Guest tx2sturgis Posted October 30, 2010 #10 Posted October 30, 2010 Are these the same folks who reports UFO.... COME ON FOLKS ever hear of a Hand Held AM/FM Radio??? Handheld? In 1928? Radios back then were at least the size of a microwave oven today. Nah...it hadda be a time traveler. No question.
ThomWill Posted October 30, 2010 #11 Posted October 30, 2010 Yeah, in addition to being HUGE, it would have been too hot to hold to ones face with all those tubes (19 years before the transistor).
frogmaster Posted October 30, 2010 #12 Posted October 30, 2010 not in 1928! just jt Handheld? In 1928? Radios back then were at least the size of a microwave oven today. Nah...it hadda be a time traveler. No question. DoH !!!! Good point on size
frogmaster Posted October 30, 2010 #13 Posted October 30, 2010 Yeah, in addition to being HUGE, it would have been too hot to hold to ones face with all those tubes (19 years before the transistor). DoH!!! Good point on Heat too
Flyinfool Posted October 30, 2010 #15 Posted October 30, 2010 And you would need a real long extension cord. It takes a lot of power to keep those tubes hot.
ThomWill Posted October 30, 2010 #16 Posted October 30, 2010 So that pretty much seals it... she is a time travelling alien extra with an insider trading problem.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted October 30, 2010 #17 Posted October 30, 2010 So that pretty much seals it... she is a time travelling alien extra with an insider trading problem. Yep...only plausible explanation.
hipshot Posted October 30, 2010 #18 Posted October 30, 2010 So that pretty much seals it... she is a time travelling alien extra with an insider trading problem. NOW ya got it, Thom! lol just jt:happy65:
finfan125 Posted October 30, 2010 #19 Posted October 30, 2010 I heard it was a man playing the part of a woman and he had his hand up to his face to hide it but I don't know who he is talking to. Could this be where talk to the hand originated.....inquiring minds want to know
friesman Posted October 30, 2010 #20 Posted October 30, 2010 And you would need a real long extension cord. It takes a lot of power to keep those tubes hot. I have a 1923 Stromberg Carlson Radio I am selling currently that runs on batteries. Up to 3 people could listen to it at a time. They used headphones to help save battery life. Up here in the farmlands there was no power back then so a lot of the farms used these. My Grandfather used this one for a few years after they moved up here from Nebraska, but it wasnt long before they got power. But ya sure couldnt carry it next to your ear...lol http://www.usedregina.com/classified-ad/1923-Stromberg-Carlton-Neutrodyne-Receiver_13428838 Brian
steamer Posted October 30, 2010 #21 Posted October 30, 2010 No one has hit on the obvious. It's the producers wife coming out of Chaplins dressing room.she realizes she's on film, puts her hand to her face to hide ,and knows she's been busted. If you watch her lips you can just make out, S#!T I'M SCREWED!:rotfl::rotfl:
