marinakorp Posted October 28, 2010 #1 Posted October 28, 2010 Well the lates in my aging royal star woes... it refuses to start. Key in ignition, lights go on...seems good... Hit starter... sounds like a swarm of bees below and in front of the seat. removed seat, repeat procedure... still sounds just in front of the battery compartment... like a old school joy buzzer... put a b attery assis on it, and still the same sound...don't thins it is the battery. could the starter have gone bad... how hard ($$) to fix? internet diagnosis assistance please!
Flyinfool Posted October 28, 2010 #3 Posted October 28, 2010 Also check the battery cables, both ends, to be sure that they are tight and free of corrosion.
Yammer Dan Posted October 28, 2010 #4 Posted October 28, 2010 Clean connections. Might get lucky but you will proball need relay.
GeorgeS Posted October 28, 2010 #5 Posted October 28, 2010 As said above, check both ends of both battery cables, and the large nuts on the Starter Solinoid. And the Cable at the Starter motor, for Corrosion. ( carefull not to twist off the Stud on the start motor ) If that don't fix it, the solinoid might be bad. Also, your battery might be shorting out internally. Check the Voltage, key off, and key on, with an external volt/ohm meter ( preferable digital ). I would also pull out the battery, check water level, and Charge it with a battery charger, ( not a trickle charger )
