rentalguy1 Posted October 28, 2010 #28 Posted October 28, 2010 (edited) I just went outside and saw my first snowflake..... 4 days ago the hubby and I were pouring cement in 80 degree weather and now it's snowing. I know I'm whining, but man, it's gonna be a long winter. Winter Go south young Lady!!! South? I'm in TN and it snowed here 3 weeks ago. Well, not at my exact location, but about 100 miles from here, and about 5000 feet higher. It's still the earliest that I can ever remember it snowing here. Gotta love winter in the mountains. http://www.citizen-times.com/article/20101005/NEWS01/101005009/Dusting-of-snow-at-Clingmans-Dome-in-Smokies They weather guys are telling us it will be a mild winter because of La Nina, but you can look at the cycles and tell that this is most likely wrong. We had several mild winters, and then last year we had several good snowfalls, along with one of the coldest winters on record. I am guessing that we will have at least a dozen snowfalls this winter, and at least 4 that are 8"+. (a guy can hope, can't he?) Snow, southern style: http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e330/rentalguy1/snow.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e330/rentalguy1/007.jpg Edited October 28, 2010 by rentalguy1

Squidley Posted October 28, 2010 #31 Posted October 28, 2010 You better watch what you say there you northern transplant. With the weather you took with you to Texas last year, they will tar and feather you and send you north on a rail at the first sign of a single snowflake. Too late, they had snow down here last year in Houston and didn't run me out. They actually liked it as they never seen it before....I was a HERO! Boomer.....who sez a weekend in Texas is just what the Shrink has ordered....I'll be calling ya soon with the dates Squid!! Chief....you know the way, and the door is open. Cheesecake can be ready in 20 minutes

coy55boy Posted October 29, 2010 #36 Posted October 29, 2010 Oh, I dunno bout the south bein all that great. I grew up in Lousy anna. Very seldom got snow, but it was humid almost all the time. Then one summer I rode my Virago 750 west to see the Grand Canyon (and my Grandma). Three months later I moved out here and never regretted it for a minute. On average, we get 315 days of sunshine a year. Course, some of those days are hotter'n hell! But, winter typically lasts only about a month and a half and I hardly ever have to wear anything heavier than a fleece jacket. Then there's spring and fall and like everywhere, that's when everything is good with the world.
