I have the stock seat with Butler mod, and its just right (as Goldie Locks would say).

Not too soft, not too hard.

DITTO and ride 12 to 14 hours with no problems for me or passenger (Both Rick Butler Modded) best $70.00 spent EVER :):)

Pete, the backrest in your pictures appears to be something different than the standard Corbin. It looks like yours has a fore/aft adjustment on the shaft, which is unlike anything I've found at the Corbin website. I just purchased the Classic Solo & Pillion for my 06 RSTD, as well as the Corbin driver backrest. I'm VERY unhappy with the backrest, as it sits way too far aft to provide any support for my back.

I REALLY need the fore/aft adjustment feature. Additionally, momma would like for the driver backrest to tilt forward so she can get on and off easier. Does your backrest do that, or any ideas where to find one that will?

My backrest is actually a "Utopia", which I had re-covered by Corbin when they built and covered my Duel-Tourer seat. Pretty much all of the reviews of the Utopia or the Diamond-R seats which I had read are very good. I have been perfectly happy with mine ever since I bought it. I also had Corbin build me a convenient little pocket with a Velcro flap in my backrest where I keep my fuel-record book and a few other small odds & ends. I can send you some detailed close-ups if you like.

As far as your wife getting off the rear seat ..., my wife (Sandy), learned this little tip from another woman which she always uses now. This is the way she does it:

When I stop, I put the kickstand down. With me standing over my seat and with both hands on the handlebar grips, Sandy swings her right leg over my backrest, pivots on her rear-end, and then slips-off the bike like you would get up off of a chair. This technique works pretty well for her, and helps her from having to either swing her right leg over the trunk or having to step off over the rear seat - both kind of awkward moves for some of us folks who are a little older than we used to be.

Happy New Year & Be Safe!

Pete.
