Due for my 31,000km oil change. I've been using Mobil 1 MX4T but at $18/litre... talking $72 just for oil !

Canadian Tire has Rotella T on sale for $32 (reg $43). Is this the one recommended as an alternative ? http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/EngineOil/DieselOil/PRD~0287935P/Shell+Rotella+T+Synthetic+Diesel+Motor+Oil%2C+5W40.jsp?locale=en

I don't have gear whine on my '09 and tempted at 1/2 the price to start using Rotella.

Not trying to reopen an oil debate... but first off... is the oil in the link what Rotella users are using? For anyone that switched from Mobil 1 to Rotella do you think it was a positive or equal change?

Canadian Tire has the FRAM oil filter... but I'll go with the OEM for filter.

Wondering if Yamalube 10w 50 semi synthetic is good for my 2006 Midnight Venture 1300. 42,000 miles on it and , as far as I know, its been changed by the dealer with Dino oil. Wanted to go 50/50 synthetic and the the temps here in San Diego get pretty hot not to mention I only ride the bike 2 to 3 times a week for approximately 150 to 200 miles a trip.

I know a lot of the guys on the Vmax board use Rotella diesel oil. One explanation I read is that it's high in zinc which the bike transmissions love but cat converters not so much. I use Rotella 15-40 and it works great.

I see this is a pretty old thread but just for information, I use Rotella T6 5W-40 in my RSTD (I went for the 5W (rather than 10w or 15w, because I do ride in lower temps during winter)

Just make sure whatever you use complies with Japanese standard JASO/MA or MA2

Any oil you use should not contain "friction modifiers" or be described as "energy saving" (i.e. don't use reguar automotive type oils)
