Dastardly Posted October 23, 2010 #1 Posted October 23, 2010 Greetings all, I am new to VR's and am wondering about parts interchangeability. I have a 1992 VR and am asking (Other than fairings & bags) what years interchange with mine? Thanks! Dastardly~
86er Posted October 23, 2010 #2 Posted October 23, 2010 Just about everything. from 86 to 93 will interchange. [/SIZE]
Squidley Posted October 23, 2010 #3 Posted October 23, 2010 Like Todd mentioned from '86 to '92 all the body parts were interchangeable. Some of the electronics from '86 to '89 are different, like the TCI's, but for the most part, they are all the same.
bongobobny Posted October 23, 2010 #4 Posted October 23, 2010 Front fork configuration changed for '89 to '93 as opposed to '86 - '88 but either configuration will work, ie change the fork assembly unit. Front fork assy for '83 - '85 is different. Saddlebage and trunk are different on '83 to '85, along with the headlights. The early models, '93 - '85, also known as the MK1 can be upgraded to '86 up, also known as MK2. MK1 engines are 1200c, MK2 are 1300cc but many engine components such as covers, carbs, etc are interchangeable with some ewxceptions with the '83. MK1 and MK2 calipers are different. The rear differential is different on MK1 and MK2 but the rear tires can be interchanged as long as you change the rotor and gray plastic dust shield. Most plastic is interchangeable but you have to use the MK2 engine guards to use the lower chin. The engine guards are interchangeable, but the MK2 has brackets added to them for the "chin." Basically, just ask specifics for whatever you want to change and we will tell you what will work...
BarryJS Posted June 29, 2011 #5 Posted June 29, 2011 Hi There I am wondering about interchangability with newer ventures with such items as front fender rails and fender lights also passenger floorboards and other "dresser" type components such as front spoiler rear bumpers. Would appreciate any help greatly!
