I can find GL-3-4-5. I can find GL-5 (with hypoid additive). Can't find GL-4 (which is spec'd). I can find more conflicting information than I really want to read.

Anybody got a clue as to whether GL-5 is safe to use in our pumpkins???

Hey Chuck,

I run the BelRay "Gear Saver" 80W90 Hypoid Gear Oil. I have had excellent results with it. My 87"VR has the 2005 FJR1300 Final Drive in her and I run this bike like a "Scalded Cat" with no problems what so ever. I have used this product since the 80's and have never had a Final Drive fail on me with over 300,000 miles on VR's and more on other bikes.

It is an excellent product. I am not connected with this company, just sayin' :thumbsup2:

To answer your question, you are looking for the 80W90 Weight Hypoid Gear Oil.

If you can find a good quality 90W oil in the GL 3-4-5 listing, use it. That oil will take care of any type of gears you may encounter. The most important thing is good quality oil and regular maintanence...
