Bigfoot Posted October 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2010 Don, Just wondering if it would be possible to put just a tad bit more info in a welcome post for new members? When I see someone from VA being welcomed I try and find where they are from. Maybe adding their home town, if you have it, would be nice. Instead of "Welcome Joe from Va" it would be "Welcome Joe from Manassas, Va". If I see that someone is clear across the state then I'm less likely to bother them to see where they are. Just a thought.
Freebird Posted October 7, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 7, 2010 I've tried that before and it just didn't work well for several reasons. First of all, some people don't even put that information in right off the bat. They often edit their profiles and add that information after the welcome thread is posted. In addition to that, I just had a lot of problems trying to get it to work properly. I even tried automatically linking to their profile but it just didn't work out right. About all you can do right now is if you see somebody that you want to know more about, just look them up in the members list.
BradT Posted October 7, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 7, 2010 First of all, some people don't even put that information in right off the bat. . When they register or renew can you make it so that they have to put in a city name. But you should add a way for them to hide the city name if they really do not want to say where there from. Maybe this would defeat the purpose but it sure would be nice to know what part of the state or province they live Brad
Bigfoot Posted October 8, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted October 8, 2010 Thanks Don. When I go to check out the members profile I often don't see a name for the area they live in. Not sure why they would join then not put that basic info in.
