Dragonslayer Posted October 3, 2010 #1 Posted October 3, 2010 You see, I like the show American Chopper on TLC. This seasons episodes of Paul Sr. vs. Paul jr' has peaked my curiousity. Early in the season the Knights of Columbus approached Paulie (Jr.) to build a bike for them and renigged by the second episode of the season. That got me thinking about the possibility of getting him to build a bike for the Fraternal Order of Eagles which is an organization that I am envolved with. We have an membership of over one million members with chapters (or Aeries) all over the world. All of our Aeries are developing our own Riders groups which I have been a part of at our local Aeriel 714 (Atlanta, Ga) for the past couple of years. My idea was to approach Paul Jr. To build a F.O. Eagles theme bike that we could use to raise funds for Diabetes Research. The problem is that I have tried to reach Paulie Jr. through every avenue I can think of and have not been successful in getting him to responde to our enquires so far. Our organization is all about raising money for charitiy and getting him to build the bike would be solely for that purpose. The problem is this. I'm just a lowely Ole country boy from Georgia. And don't know how to make big waves. But, since it was my idea my organization thinks its a good ideal and has put me in charge of making it happen.:yikes: What do I do next. I'm open for suggestions.

KarlS Posted October 3, 2010 #3 Posted October 3, 2010 Did you look at his web site, It has contact phone numbers and hours of operations? http://www.pauljrdesigns.com/contact

Cruser Posted October 3, 2010 #5 Posted October 3, 2010 I would donate a buck for the effort, you know people have become kinda soured on involvement in community organised events, but not me, I still take boxes of school supplies to the local schools every year!
skydoc_17 Posted October 3, 2010 #6 Posted October 3, 2010 :confused24:I was wondering why you would want Paul Jr. to build this bike and not Paul Sr. who still runs O.C.C.? As of July Paul Sr.'s shop O.C.C. is still operating in NY and when Jean and I stopped by on our way to the BongoBob's Paul Sr. was there and without any of the drama that was generated between P Jr. and P Sr. depicted on the show. If MY father had a business going and wanted to make ME a part of it, I am not so sure I would have gotten the "too big fo my britches" attitude that Paul Jr. did and would have been a bit more respectful of my father, but hey, thats just me. I would think that a bike built by Orange County Chopper's would be worth a lot more than a bike built by his son, not to mention, if you can't event get in touch with him TO GIVE HIM YOUR MONEY, what's it going to be like when you DON'T GET YOUR BIKE! Here is a link to the O.C.C. site: http://www.orangecountychoppers.com/ Just my 2cents. Earl

Here is a link to the O.C.C. site: http://www.orangecountychoppers.com/ Just my 2cents. Earl Earl, You have a valid point of view and I'm sure that much if not all of the Paul Jr. vs Paul Sr. Drama is staged by the producers for TV rating reasons. Taking sides is half the fun of watching the series. I personally lean more to the Paul Jr. side because I believe that Paul Jr. and Vinny were the creative talent behind the most famous bike builds and to me Paul Sr. comes across as an egotistical, arogant A**h*** trying to grab all the credit for the creative work of others. I also feel that Sr. has said and done some mean and underhanded things to his sons which rubs me the wrong way and makes me not respect the man. Jr. seems to be better at keeping things going with a positive spin (most of the time). ...... But, thats just my opinion. The reason I suggested Jr. for the build was partly because of the foregoing and partly because I believed he would be more accessable and easier to work with than Sr. since Jr's business was trying to get established. But, now after having little luck in getting Jr. to respond I'm having second thoughts about that. And, it has been suggested as you have to approach Sr. to get this project off the ground. Maybe I have been taking the wrong approach. Maybe I should approach TLC and suggest that we would be interested in talking to both and to see which would be better suited to do our build and let them compete with each other on the air for ratings for the chance to build our bike.
Dragonslayer Posted October 3, 2010 Author #10 Posted October 3, 2010 Wondering if we have any members close by Jr's shop who wouldn't mind dropping in to try and catch Jr. in person to let him know we are trying to get in touch with him.
Freebird Posted October 3, 2010 #11 Posted October 3, 2010 I'm with the forget him group. If I try to contact somebody to reward them with my business and they refuse to respond to me then that's all the warning that I need. If they are unresponsive when I'm trying to BUY from them, I can only imagine how unresponsive they will be later on if I have an issue or something. I would try Paul Sr.
bongobobny Posted October 3, 2010 #12 Posted October 3, 2010 I agree with Don!! I smell "New Episode" over this build! Paul Jr can't be responsible enough to respond to sales requests so Paul Sr wins the contract. The early bird gets the worm, and I'm sorry, but Sr knows how to run abusiness responsibly. Paul Jr has more of a "second shift" personality, and can't run a business at normal working hours. If anyone is arrogent, it's Jr. as he seems to do what he wants WHEN he wants. Look at Lee on that one episode. He quit after one day because he shows up at the shop bright and early ready to work and Jr is no where to be found, and shows up when he is darn good and ready to work! Man, I feel guilty if I show up one minute late for work...
DBOB Posted October 3, 2010 #13 Posted October 3, 2010 Bob; I totally agree with you on the Jr vs Sr feud. Not only does Sr have issues with Jr and Mikey, he is also on the outs with the son, ( Dan ?), who took over the iron works. Obviously we get to see the edited version of things on the show, but Sr comes off as a total control freak and bully. I read recently Sr even refused to go to Jrs' wedding. It is sad that he tries to undermine Paul Jr Designs (PJD). I do give Sr credit for all he did starting OCC, but it is clear that he did not do it all alone. Take away Rick and and the kid that does the computer designs and I thinks SR would be in deep ca-ca. Good luck with your project, as a diabetic I appreciate your efforts to raise funds. Don
Condor Posted October 3, 2010 #14 Posted October 3, 2010 Take it to Arlen Ness. Maybe they'll do it as a project on Two Wheel Thunder....??
skydoc_17 Posted October 3, 2010 #15 Posted October 3, 2010 Jack, you nailed this one, buddy! Mr Arlen Ness stopped by our local chopper shop (Hart Custom Cycles) this summer and rarely have I met a nicer, more well versed person in my life. Needless to say, he was NOT wearing jeans and a tank top, but took time to look at my scoot, was impressed with the upgrades, had a few suggestions AND shared them with me. He is not your typical "biker" Harley Rider. This would be the MAN to build a custom bike that would gather more than a few bucks for a worthy cause. He was at Hart Custom Cycles to have a look at a Trike Chopper that a customer purchased from Arlen and had delivered to Hart. It seems that the bike was damaged in transport. Mr. Ness showed up in person, had a look at the bike, ordered it back to his shop for repairs and a complete repaint, and spent the rest of the afternoon hangin' out with Shawn, checking out his projects. By the way, Hart Custom Cycles is one of the few METRIC (for you Second Gen. guys) Custom Bike Builders that I know of in Pennsylvania. I have no connection with his company other than a healthy respect for the quality of his work. After seeing Mr. Ness's work, that's the place to get a bike built! First class all the way. Earl
GatecityAl Posted October 6, 2010 #16 Posted October 6, 2010 I went on the Paul Jr. website and didn't see a single picture of a bike they had made. Are they bike fabricators or t-shirt sellers? Al
Carbon_One Posted October 6, 2010 #17 Posted October 6, 2010 You could also try Vinny & Cody who used to work at OCC. Here's a link to their web site --- http://www.vforcecustoms.com/ Larry
eazyduzzit Posted October 7, 2010 #18 Posted October 7, 2010 I used to be a member of the FOE in Knoxville, but all we did was drink beer and shoot pool.
Dragonslayer Posted October 7, 2010 Author #19 Posted October 7, 2010 I went on the Paul Jr. website and didn't see a single picture of a bike they had made. Are they bike fabricators or t-shirt sellers? Al I was able to find a link to the Anti- Venom and the Gieco Insurance bike which were his first two with Jr. Designs. Both bikes were unveiled at Sturgis this past August so the series is at least a month out from real time. Both bikes are pretty cool. I think I found the link on his face book site.
Dragonslayer Posted October 7, 2010 Author #20 Posted October 7, 2010 I used to be a member of the FOE in Knoxville, but all we did was drink beer and shoot pool. We do some of that too.
Dragonslayer Posted October 7, 2010 Author #21 Posted October 7, 2010 I've been making a short video to send to Paul Jr. to get his attention. The Video is eight minutes long and tells who the F.O.E. is what we do and why, as well as who the eagle riders are, the proposed project concept. When I get the video finished I will post it for y'alls review. If your interested in learning more about the Fraternal Order of Eagles you can check out the web site at www.foe.com
