Condor Posted September 30, 2010 #1 Posted September 30, 2010 How many members pulling one of the Piggy Backers, or any other brand that takes an 8" 5-bolt wheel would be interested in buying a set of machined aluminum wheels for their trailer? Also, in your opinion, what kind of a market do you think might be out there? I've checked everywhere and I can not find a manufacturer that makes them. Worldwide... I did find a company on the web in China that might be interested in making them, but rather than even talking to them about it I thought I'd see what others might think. Just because I'd like to find a set doesn't neccessarly mean there would be a big market... Whatcha think??
Thom Posted October 1, 2010 #2 Posted October 1, 2010 I have a Piggy and the chrome is just rust now , you are gonna make me look but i thought it had 4 lugs , somebody here got new wheels from piggy backer , i think they where alloy , Jack if the price is rite i would like 1 or 2 sets . Thom
KeithR Posted October 1, 2010 #3 Posted October 1, 2010 (edited) Piggybacker replaced my chrome rims with Alloy because of a bad shimmy problem...they were 12" - 4 bolt. Not sure if they offer them in 8" Keith Edited October 1, 2010 by KeithR spelling

Thom Those alloys replacements were for the 12" wheels. I think a handling issue caused the replacement. 12" alloys are available all over the place. And yes the PB's are a 4 lug. That should be a style along with the 5 lug. MOF I hardle ever see an 8" in 5 lug. I've had a set of white 5 lug in the garage forever and have never found a trailer I could use them on.... until this latest one.. I did find 4 lugs for golf carts but they were too wide. IF the time came I did think about giving one of those company's a shout since they were already half way there...

That's also what started my thinking about replacing my 8's and couldn't find them anywhere.....
Wizard765 Posted October 1, 2010 #6 Posted October 1, 2010 I'd be interested in 8" 4 bolt if it came available..
Sideoftheroad Posted October 1, 2010 #7 Posted October 1, 2010 I think it would be wait and see for me. If a company out of China made them and they held up to weather and such, I probably would consider it for my HF in the future. Just have reservations about buying from China for something like this. I would worry about quality or lead poisoning (j/k).

I would worry about quality or lead poisoning (j/k). I understand your concern about Chinese goods. Especially after the last lead and mercury problems. But.... I'm not sure this would be an issue with an aluminum product, and I would love to buy American..... But where??? If you can suggest a US manufacturer I'm all ears.... Lately Chinese quality has been on the upswing, and I'm not really sure how an alloy wheel can be screwed up.
