Alternator upgrade

My bike has been chosen for alternative fuel. I have to add a car 140 amp alternator to my 92 venture royale. Any idea how?* Thanks in advance. Was thinking of bolting straight onto the stator nut. Or putting a pulley there?

Add it to the clutch side, may stop the whine. And OH, just weld it in place.

That should be a very interesting bike. I've rebuilt a couple of those engines a number of times. If I dig deep enough I'll bet I can find a set of those alloy pushrod tubes and an oversized oil pan somewhere in the basement.

I had a friend with a 1200 GL and he did an aftermarket switch to a car alternator. It worked well and gave him lots of juice...

used to put car generators on 45 flathead HDs . mounted on the front and used a vbelt off the primary .

that looks like a pancake VW motor , done that too , used a Delco 30 amp single wire alt.

Corvairs are a lot nicer looking, alternator is on the left side, carbs go in the heads in a different location and we don't need stacks! We just slap on a 4bbl or a turbo and go to town!

 

 

PS..... that ones lacking a couple of cylinders........

Yeah, I already looked it up. The Corvair has the fan on top of the engine, and the alternator sits sideways. I helped build a 180HP turbo a few years back. VERY expensive engine to build.

I have 2 motors in my garage (4bbl and a turbo) and a 65 2 door in the driveway. One of these days I plan on playing with them.
