Were is the best to buy a new tire?

I have a 08 that I need to replace the front tire and the dealer is high. Who gives the best price? I don't want bay and get a old tire. Thanks

I see you are in Indianapolis. You may want to try Westfield Yamaha. In May this year I needed a new front tire on my '07 RSV. I got a Dunlop 404 size 150/80-16 mounted and balanced and a new 90 degree valve stem for $138.23 out-the-door. I had 'em change the valve stem to get easier access to check/install air in the tire.

 

That's with me removing and reinstalling the wheel. I was in and out in less than an hour, maybe 45 minutes. Here is the price break-down:

By next month, I will be ordering my front tire above. I think they don't charge shipping with a purchase of over $100 bucks. Still have a little bit of meat left and lots on the center tread with 18500 miles on it.

I was gonna say what Mel did. They sell Dunlops 50% off all the time. Yes they do get you on install. Have you talked to Mike Smith? He can mount tires now. You can get them from Westfield and have Mike install if you are worried about cost.

 

How bad is it? Can it be put off until the next riding season starts. Just saying could save you some $$$ now by waiting.

If you are really concerned about getting an old tire (which I usually am too) your best bet is to go to a dealer (with a reasonable price on the tire) and INSPECT the tire BEFORE purchasing it. If you don't like what you see, ask for a different one.

 

For one of my bikes, my local dealer was slightly annoyed but still did it for me, when I requested that they get a tire with a more recent date code on it. They asked that I pay for it ahead of time since they were going to be placing the order and on the signed copy of the reciept, I signed and agreed to accept the tire if the date code was within 1 year (or so) of that day's date. I signed it and had the parts manager initial it to show that we all agreed to it. It took two tries with the tire supplier to get it, but the dealership held up their end of the deal.

(As it turns out, they didn't end up charging my CC until after they received the tire that I would accept; but I think for them it was a book-keeping issue).

 

Anyhoo, I don't know if you'll have the same experience with one by you or not.

swmoto.com is good as are several places. I got last ones from JakeWilson and Dennis Kirk had a thing that they would beat anybody's price by a buck. Just show them the ad. Just check ads and watch shipping. And watch on here. When we get a good deal we can't keep our mouth shut....

Thanks everyone! Mel and Jerry west field is high on there tires I found that out after I got the rear tire. There half or so called half is if they install it. My rear tire was almost 300 bucks for a E3 and they want 130 for the tire if I buy it and 110 plus 60 I think he told me for a front to install. Yes I will get with mike to put it on. Maybe when I get me a shop built I will get me a changer to do them at home along with fixing them.

I can't say enough good things about Tim and Ernie at Two Brothers Tires. They run a great shop, are honest and friendly, and always have great prices on tires and installation. I'm fortunate in that I only live about 8 miles from their shop. A bunch of us on this Forum use them exclusively. Oh, and one other thing, you won't get a warehouse rat of a tire.

I talked with my dealer I bought the bike from westfield yamaha and they said they would meet kirks price they have and with tax its 113.00 so i am going to go get it friday and I will put it on I guess. Hopefully that will take some or all of the all over the road out of it.
