Dad's new car

My Dad has a lot of health problems, thanks to Agent Orange. He is finally on VA 100% disability for it. A while back, we sold his 2006 Road King, as it was too heavy for him to hold up. He has neuropathy in his legs, and he also has Parkinson's. After selling the RK, he bought Midnite's 1100 Vstar, because it was much lighter, and had a lower seat height. Although it was easier for him to ride, he still had problems with it, so he sold it also.

 

We decided it would be safer on four wheels, and since he probably doesn't have too many good years left, it was time to just say "%&$@ it", and just go borrow the money, and buy himself a nice car.

 

The car is a 1948(same year he was born) Ford Super Deluxe Coupe. It has had a LOT of work done in the restoration, and it sports a mildly built Chevy 350. It also has power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes, and cruise control. We are going to add air conditioning. He is a happy camper now.

Nice Car we have a 46 almost the same color and I do not know why but when we built it we put in a 350 also. I hope your Dad enjoys his "new" car as much as my Dad did ours.

 

Make sure you bring it up to SW Va next year for our car & bike show in memory of my Dad.

Hey Monty you did good getting a sweet car like that for your Dad. Sad of course he has to hang up his bike keys but knowing he's safer is much more important.

Enjoy those wheels with him in his last years on the road.

I always took for granted the time we spent building these old cars with Dad and my brother. Always cherish this time and have a blast with the the 48.

I bought my neighbors 46 coupe in 1962. He had passed away and his wife had a newer car. Kept is stock other than a HiPo 289 and four speed. Nice sleeper. I wish I still had half the cars I used to own. I also had a 48 Chevy coupe.

Here's me a year ago and the replacement (26 T coupe) for my 88 VR, planning on switching in 3 1/2 years. Hope it's done by then.
