Monty Posted September 27, 2010 #1 Posted September 27, 2010 My Dad has a lot of health problems, thanks to Agent Orange. He is finally on VA 100% disability for it. A while back, we sold his 2006 Road King, as it was too heavy for him to hold up. He has neuropathy in his legs, and he also has Parkinson's. After selling the RK, he bought Midnite's 1100 Vstar, because it was much lighter, and had a lower seat height. Although it was easier for him to ride, he still had problems with it, so he sold it also. We decided it would be safer on four wheels, and since he probably doesn't have too many good years left, it was time to just say "%&$@ it", and just go borrow the money, and buy himself a nice car. The car is a 1948(same year he was born) Ford Super Deluxe Coupe. It has had a LOT of work done in the restoration, and it sports a mildly built Chevy 350. It also has power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes, and cruise control. We are going to add air conditioning. He is a happy camper now.
etcswjoe Posted September 27, 2010 #2 Posted September 27, 2010 Nice Car we have a 46 almost the same color and I do not know why but when we built it we put in a 350 also. I hope your Dad enjoys his "new" car as much as my Dad did ours. Make sure you bring it up to SW Va next year for our car & bike show in memory of my Dad. http://i760.photobucket.com/albums/xx248/etcswjoe/Our%20Cars/Sad_SamCrop.jpg

capn eddie Posted September 27, 2010 #7 Posted September 27, 2010 Monty cool car i bet your dad still has a smile on his face and will for some time.
RandyR Posted September 27, 2010 #8 Posted September 27, 2010 Just the thing to go out cruising on Friday night.
Carbon_One Posted September 27, 2010 #9 Posted September 27, 2010 Hey Monty you did good getting a sweet car like that for your Dad. Sad of course he has to hang up his bike keys but knowing he's safer is much more important. Enjoy those wheels with him in his last years on the road. Larry

gunkylump Posted September 27, 2010 #11 Posted September 27, 2010 Sweet Monty! Have fun with your Dad and his new wheels. Hoping we can get down that way soon and see it close up. gunk:thumbsup2:
etcswjoe Posted September 27, 2010 #12 Posted September 27, 2010 Sweet! You got any more pics of it? Thanks Here is a link that has a couple pics on, most are from the Good Guys show in Charlotte Last year. http://s760.photobucket.com/albums/xx248/etcswjoe/Our%20Cars/ I always took for granted the time we spent building these old cars with Dad and my brother. Always cherish this time and have a blast with the the 48. Was your Dad Navy also? We put a "Vintage Air" AC unit in the 46 and the 41 seems to work real well. http://www.vintageair.com/ Just curious what type of clip is under the front end or is it orginal?
Sylvester Posted September 27, 2010 #13 Posted September 27, 2010 I bought my neighbors 46 coupe in 1962. He had passed away and his wife had a newer car. Kept is stock other than a HiPo 289 and four speed. Nice sleeper. I wish I still had half the cars I used to own. I also had a 48 Chevy coupe.
LilBeaver Posted September 27, 2010 #14 Posted September 27, 2010 http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-forum/drool.gif Very cool And definitely thank him for his service and sacrifices for us!
Shorty Posted September 28, 2010 #16 Posted September 28, 2010 Here's me a year ago and the replacement (26 T coupe) for my 88 VR, planning on switching in 3 1/2 years. Hope it's done by then.
