Rick Haywood Posted September 24, 2010 #2 Posted September 24, 2010 News this morning, heavy flooding around Minneapolis Mn. Any detailed reports ?? Boy, Heavy Rain, in middle of harvest season, back there. Got to be Tuff on the farmers trying to harvest the Corn Crop, middle of Sept. !! I rode through that rain Wednesday night and Thursday morning. It really came down Wednesday evening and forced me to the motel. Lots of water on the roads and when I hit some in construction when it was dark and the water came up over the windshield I figured it was time to pull off for the night.
Bobby G Posted September 25, 2010 #3 Posted September 25, 2010 I've been in northern MN all week, and just got back to the ATL today. Man, I am so glad I wasn't on two wheels up there, especially yesterday. Took 4+ hours to drive from Grand Rapids back down to Minneapolis, and that was in a Suburban! But the temperature change from GR to MSP was amazing - - 48 when I left, and 72 when I got to the hotel! Glad to be home in hot-Lanta.
TDbiker Posted September 25, 2010 #4 Posted September 25, 2010 Yes, lots of rain. From Wednesday afternoon until Thursday night I had just under 7" in my rain gauge. I also spent over 24 hours dealing with the water that flooded my basement. But the worst of it was just to the south of where I live. There are some corn fields where all you can see above the water are the tassels. I really feel for the farmers. It was setting up to be a bumper harvest. Several major roads closed, and lots of back roads under water. Just a big mess.
