E-Fishin-C Posted September 23, 2010 #1 Posted September 23, 2010 According to a report on Moto Revue, Yamaha are looking at taking on the Kawasaki 1400GTR in a big way by launching an updated FJR – the FJR1400 – towards the end of this year. Apart from its 1400cc inline-four, the new FJR is expected to get bits like the latest-generation anti-lock brakes, traction control and a semi-automatic gearbox that offers clutchless gear shifts.
Beau-Kat Posted September 23, 2010 #3 Posted September 23, 2010 Putting R&D into a bigger, better FJR? Really? I would have thunk that Yamaha would have done something really significant like replace the RSV's cassette feature with an air bag, or coffee pot, or toaster, or GPS, or sunglasses pouch, etc. You know, something more useful. A man can have his dreams, can't he?
hunter 1500 Posted September 23, 2010 #4 Posted September 23, 2010 Or maybe a detuned V-Max engine. FI would be nice. I see the new V-Max has it.

But will it have cruise? I'm about to drop the hammer on a 2010 Concurs14. I think it's the most tech-advanced bike available TODAY. Waiting to see if the 2011s will have cruise. Dealer show is in Vegas next week. I'll be keeping the Venture (it's for the wife).
Squeeze Posted September 23, 2010 #6 Posted September 23, 2010 We had currently a long Distance Tourer Comparison in the biggest german M/C Magazine running the Bikes from Germany all the Way to the Carpates and back... The FJR 1300 was 2nd Place behind a Beamer(who woulda thought that) but the Concours1400 was only 5th. Mostly because of poor Brakes, a weird Riding Position which puts a lot of your Weight on your Wrists and some other Shortcomings. (And a Microswitch of the Immobilizer crapped out on them in Sibiu, Romania) Even though i don't like the FJR much, i was surprised to see these 7 Riders placing Concours1400 so much down there. The Braking Results were horrible. Where the Beamer was stopped, the FJR had 18 km/h remaining Speed but the Concours had 48 km/h remaining Speed(that's about 30mph)... All in all, it's good to see Yammi progress !!!
jfoster Posted September 23, 2010 #7 Posted September 23, 2010 They already have the 2011 out...looks the same as the 2010.

A man can have his dreams, can't he? Hey...maybe an RSV with an improved cassette player with an upgrade to variable venturi carbs? That's what I'm talkin about! Ok...perhaps a rebuildable rear shock. Is that too much to ask?

I'm sorry they're not putting the whole test online over here. You have to buy the Magazine or be subscripted Customer to get a pdf of the Article. It's a two Part Test and i have only teh second Part at Hand. If i can get the Magazine back today in Time (it's lying in my Truck) to put it in the Scanner. If not, it will be Monday evening by the Time i'm able to catch the Truck again .... @BradT... i'd think aharbi wouldn't ask if he isn't able to put it up with german Language There's always online Translation, as poor as that is, often it's about getting a Sense of what they're talking about. Kinda like my french Language Skills...
