I had never seen an ad were you can buy your own Forestry 100' fire tower. There is one here locally on craigslist, complete taken down delivered and set up on your own property for $22,000. It is complete with a room with new windows, repainted and ready to go. Now I have seen it all.

I just saw a place the other day that has some of the old abandoded fire and ranger towers that have been renovated and are used for rental units. Still in the remote locations that you have to hike into. Talk about secluded! I don't remember if it was Colorado or Yellowstone but somewhere up through there.

Now if I could find a ranger's cabin for sale up here in the Pacific Northwest. Living in the tower is a stretch for a 70 year old but the cabin would be great and doable.
