Double D Posted September 20, 2010 #1 Posted September 20, 2010 Not sure if this is the right place but a coworker found a '97 Royal Star and fell in love with it except for one thing--He says there is a loud whine between gears when he is down shifting. I have never heard of this and thought I would throw it out to you guys. He said there is no whine when cruising or when up shifiting only between gears when downshifing.. Should he be concerned?
jfoster Posted September 20, 2010 #2 Posted September 20, 2010 My 06 does the same thing...I had the clutch basket replaced this past spring and it reduced the whine alot. Its fairly quite going up through the gears, but its pretty noticeable when downshifting just as your friend has described. From all the posts I've read, nothing to worry about and probably not much you can do with it.
