BlueVenture87 Posted September 18, 2010 #1 Posted September 18, 2010 Hi, new guy here. Old Wing guy though. Anyway I,ve been sorting out an '87 Venture basket case, and have the dreaded "tank slapper" trouble any time I let go of bar. Its severe and right now when it happens! I'm working through the list of soloutions like bearings springs seals etc. All that aside, the '82 wing has a heavy weight attached to the forks under the fairing, presumably to lessen this trouble on the Honda. Anyone tried to use a Goldwing fork counterweight on a Venture? If so, what happened? It sure looks like it will fit and might give my new ride better manners. What's the list wisdom on this? -87
Yammer Dan Posted September 18, 2010 #2 Posted September 18, 2010 Don't know about weight. You could try it I guess. Just be carefull. There is a stronger fork brace for the 1st Gen Ventures that helps a lot. WELCOME!!
bikenut Posted September 18, 2010 #3 Posted September 18, 2010 My 86 Did the same thing on me but after I tightened the head bearings and replaced the bad worn front tire mine was fine. Check to see if your front tire is wore bad and un even. That will be one thing wrong. But most of all the front head bearing have to be set per the manual to stop this. Guest my thoughts . Welcome and hope you fine a fix.
