22lyons Posted September 17, 2010 #1 Posted September 17, 2010 Well, been driving wings for 25 years...a 79, 80 and still have my 82. Stumbled over a deal on a 2000 venture i couldn't pass up so now I am a venture man. i do enjoy riding it. Has some loud pipes so may quiet it down a bit. Other than the small intermitent "whine" and the speedo off by 12mph I enjoy the bike.
Guest Posted September 18, 2010 #2 Posted September 18, 2010 Welcome to the club. So, it took ya 25 years to come to your senses?? Just kidding.....nothing wrong with a wing.....The RSV is a nice bike. Enjoy it.
painterman67 Posted September 18, 2010 #3 Posted September 18, 2010 welcome to the crazy train. The 2 complaints from what Ive read and heard myself are common . If you are haveing intermitant whining then you are better off than some as a lot of peaple have complained about the whine quite a bit. ANd as for the loud pipes , if ypu want to quite them down then maybey you can make a trade with some one who has stocker and are wanting louder pipes. David
slickster Posted September 18, 2010 #4 Posted September 18, 2010 Yeah I traded my 91 wing this past monday for a great deal on an 06'....time will tell..
eusa1 Posted September 18, 2010 #5 Posted September 18, 2010 I have a couple sets of stock venture pipes, one of the sets have never been run, i took the bike out of the crate myself and removed them before i ever put a drop of fuel into the bike. i would be glad to sell them or trade them for the rite pipes?? mike

jinx56 Posted September 19, 2010 #8 Posted September 19, 2010 Well done; I sold my 84 Wing that I had since new and bought an 01 last August. Outside of the usual already talked of little faults the rsv has brought on a completely new ride and experience. Put about 5400 k on a trip this summer in the Canadian Rockies and over to Vancouver Island without any glitches and it was pure gold. Both bikes are good; it is whatever you are looking for that will tell the day and I am enjoying the change immensely...
