oldgoat Posted September 17, 2010 #1 Posted September 17, 2010 well i went and done it now.. while putting away Dianne,s bike. after being a good boy and cleaning the garage. i put a rake up in the rafters well i guess i didnt get it up there good enough?? i placed both bikes in the garage with hers right under that damn rake.. i closed the garage door and heard a crash!!! so i went back in the side door and there it was rake hit her gas tank. nice. scratch and about a quarter size dent..... so how much will a body shop charge me to paint and fix the dent? its silver in color if that makes any differance? my mistake i have to man up to it... well since shes still up in north dakota her arms cant reach that far to smack me upside the head.. that will teach her to leave me .. almost have her talked into not staying up there... she hates them 12 to 14 hr shifts. but loves being with her mom.. just hope i can that tank painted for under $100 bucks i hope? or as close to that amount as possible..
Guest Posted September 17, 2010 #2 Posted September 17, 2010 Depending on where the dent and scratch is located maybe you can get either a tank bra or some kind of leather pocket panel to cover it up. But it could have been worse.....at least you didnt mess with a hoe.....
Jerry W Posted September 17, 2010 #3 Posted September 17, 2010 Might check with one of those places that advertise paintless dent repair. I have seen hail damage repaired that way and the results were very good. Sounds like your health is getting better, next time you are at the doctor you might have see if they have anything for cranial rectitus. Just sayin.
oldgoat Posted September 17, 2010 Author #4 Posted September 17, 2010 never thouhgt about the bra or paintless dent repair. good idea.. yep health is doing ok. had gallbladder taken out last week. had all my meds redone. now that they got the proper doseage. im feeling pretty good. still cant do over a 50 or 70 mile ride before im tired. but hey at least im out there.. with all the help here im getting it running good. next is a paint job and fix the fairing cracks.. it just irks me to hurt her bike like that but accidents happen.. i did send her a text. about what happened. no answer back yet!!! for the life of me i dont know what i was thinking? of putting that rake up there.. i was just tired and wanted to go home. and just did a brain fart i guess? it could have been worse as its one of them garden rakes long and pointy. could have hit someone and hurt them.... it can be fixed.. as for doc checking my head. im sure he wont find nothing up there LOL
hipshot Posted September 17, 2010 #5 Posted September 17, 2010 you might try "popping" the dent out with dry ice. i have seen it work miracles on hail damage. just jt
TEW47 Posted September 18, 2010 #6 Posted September 18, 2010 Try some dry ice. Have been told that it will work. tew47
BradT Posted September 18, 2010 #7 Posted September 18, 2010 I did something similar not too long ago and thought the same thing Brad
oldgoat Posted September 18, 2010 Author #8 Posted September 18, 2010 well found out the local high school.. here as a class in auto body shop and repair. talked to MR Hanson there showed him the tank after pulling it off and draining it.. he said shop cost .. and paint cost will be around $22 bucks.. he also gave me a tip on doing a dent that need no paint repair.. besides dry ice. he said you know them air spray cans you use to clean your computers? well turn them up side down spray the whole can on the dent. it will freeze the dent then use a hairdryer heat around the dent and you will hear a pop. dent will pop back out. as long as its not deep and has a crushed can look..
dmoff1698 Posted September 18, 2010 #9 Posted September 18, 2010 Tell Diane that you had a tornado come through and threw something up against the bike. No way to prevent something like that! Of course when she sees the shop is not hurt, you may have even more 'splainin' to do. That's what I would do.
dray Posted September 18, 2010 #10 Posted September 18, 2010 better get your self one of them lill pink bicycle helmets to protect yourself when she gets home:buttkick:
