Motorcycle Mike Posted September 17, 2010 #1 Posted September 17, 2010 I bought a set of passing lamps used so of coarse no instructions. Where should I get the power from? Do I need relay?
LilBeaver Posted September 17, 2010 #2 Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) Common suggestion: - Power the lights directly from the battery with an inline fuse (or an aux fuse box through the battery). - Use a relay to to trigger the lights (either from switch, high beam, or low beam - whatever your preference is) Instructions can be found here: yamaha instructions (NOTE: yamaha does NOT suggest the use of a relay): http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43898 Relevant Schematic: Edited September 17, 2010 by LilBeaver I'm an idiot. LilBeaver Posted September 17, 2010 #4 Posted September 17, 2010 Thanks Lilbeaver, but I don't see a link. Oops I added it to the original post. Sorry about that.
theostar Posted September 17, 2010 #5 Posted September 17, 2010 Easiest bike of the 13 i have owned to remove the gas tank and run a wire direct to the battery with a relay under the front fairing to bypass the ign switch. May consider the passing mount spacer block offered by a fellow member on this sight before installing.
kj4v Posted September 17, 2010 #6 Posted September 17, 2010 Mike, mine was powered straight to a wire in the fairing that was only hot when the switch was on. use the largest wire you can find that has power on it......Ken
