Lassesand Posted September 16, 2010 #1 Posted September 16, 2010 I did remove all 4 throttles on my -84 yesterday. Two of them had cracks near the end where the diaphragm is fitted. One seems to be glued together but the other one seems to be held together by the fitting for the diaphragm. Is this a common problem? I have searched the forum but did not fina any threads about his. Is the cracks from the plastic getting old or what could have happened? Anyhow; do any of you know where to by new throttles that are not oem? Or perhaps the oem part is affordable?

If you're talking about the plastic diaphragm slides, I'm affraid you're at the mercy of Y. For just diaphragms they can be purchased from Sirus in Canada for about $70 bucks a set. Another possibility is picking up a set of carbs off Ebay for a 1stGen MKI and using the Diaphragm assemblies. Cracking is not normal.

GeorgeS Posted September 16, 2010 #4 Posted September 16, 2010 On an 84 model, if the diaphrams have never been replaced. Then you need new ones. I replaced them on my 89 back about 7 years ago. Rubber starting to deterioate. Check the tamper proof Screw, ( one on each diaphrame cover ) If never removed, then you most likley need new diaphrams.
