Sleeperhawks Mechanic Posted September 14, 2010 #1 Posted September 14, 2010 Our Zumo tried to have us turn left on the Blue Ridge Parkway this weekend! Would not have been a pretty sight! Zumo and George are at odds a lot of times! Me, I just follow George!
etcswjoe Posted September 14, 2010 #2 Posted September 14, 2010 When I rode up to Va two weeks ago my Street Pilot had me off track by almost 50 miles probably would have been more if I had not know that Danville Va is not on the way to Blacksburg.
Sleeperhawks Mechanic Posted September 14, 2010 Author #3 Posted September 14, 2010 That's when good common sense and a good sense of direction comes in very handy! Sleeperhawk has both so we are safe! Well, most of the time!!! :stirthepot:
bongobobny Posted September 14, 2010 #4 Posted September 14, 2010 Yah!! Sometimes it's better to use the MAPS system than the GPS system...
Trader Posted September 14, 2010 #5 Posted September 14, 2010 My GPS doesn't know how to do a U turn! It will sent me Miles out of the way to go Right, right, right. left So I'm always checking the route it chose for me before I actually follow its commands!
RandyR Posted September 14, 2010 #6 Posted September 14, 2010 When I rode up to Va two weeks ago my Street Pilot had me off track by almost 50 miles probably would have been more if I had not know that Danville Va is not on the way to Blacksburg. In the days before GPS's we used to call that LOST..
Evan Posted September 14, 2010 #7 Posted September 14, 2010 --- mine took me down 5 miles of remote, single lane, stone roads recently. Apparenntly, it was the shortest route to my final destinaition.
etcswjoe Posted September 14, 2010 #8 Posted September 14, 2010 In the days before GPS's we used to call that LOST.. :rotfl::rotfl: I liked that.
Condor Posted September 15, 2010 #9 Posted September 15, 2010 'Broomhilda' has a glich in her programing. The graphics are right, but the vox direction is wrong.... and it's repeatable. Happens every time I approach one particular intersection... I just ignore her.
Guest scarylarry Posted September 15, 2010 #10 Posted September 15, 2010 GPS are good for finding gas stations and motels...That is all I use mine for.... Atlas for the rest
Rick Haywood Posted September 15, 2010 #11 Posted September 15, 2010 GPS are good for finding gas stations and motels...That is all I use mine for.... Atlas for the rest I have to agree, I use mine for getting to points when in a strange town but never use it to get from one town to another. I also use it if we are in a different state just riding around and didn't pay attention where we went so we can get back to wheere we want. But they are nice to have for a bunch of things:clap2:
Sleeperhawk Posted September 15, 2010 #12 Posted September 15, 2010 GPS are good for finding gas stations and motels...That is all I use mine for.... Atlas for the rest Must take you a long time to read the Atlas, if you are planning on your Florida trip now for next year. :stirthepot::rasberry::rotf:
1sttenor Posted September 15, 2010 #13 Posted September 15, 2010 I use mine alot, but I plan my routes on Streets and Trips and then down load the waypoints to my TomTom. You can easily check the routes on the computer then prior to heading out on multi-day trip.
