no passport

anybody know what is the new requirement for crossing into the USA. my daughter is 17 and has no passport. she has birth cert and picture health card, is that enough ID for attempting to cross into USA for the weekend?

As far as us US citizens , we only need a picture ID till the first of the year . I would check into Canadian customs website . Wife and I should be receiving our passports in a few weeks , if we are lucky .

Daughter is good to go without passport until the new year. They actually say that one might not need a passport till next summer but who really knows.:confused24:

Picture I.D is required here at the St. Stephen N.B./Calais Maine crossing.Passports (as of to-day's paper) won't be required until June of 08.

Unless she is flying she is okay. If she travel by water or land all she needs is Pic ID and birth Certificate.

Wife and I crossed over back in Sept at Niagra Falls. Had Birth Certif with us but they didnt ask for it on either side. All they wanted to see was drivers license. No delays at all for us.
