Microphone and earbud options

We have J&M headsets in our helmets and the speakers hurt our ears on long rides. We would like to try earbuds. It doesn't look like I can remove the speakers without cutting wires. I don't want to cannibalize our headsets in case we want to go back to them someday. Is there a place to get a microphone only with a 5 pin plug? Any other ideas or suggestions?

I don't know if anybody offers just a hand held mic any longer. Edsets sells a system where the microphone can be included without any speakers. The mike mount has a jack to plug earbuds into.

I talked to Edsets earlier today. He understands what I am trying to do.

He said he didn't have a mic only.

Well either he doesn't understand what you are looking for or I don't. If you go to this link, you can see that you can buy it without speakers. Then just plug your ear buds in.

There is a company called Big Ear that you can usually find at the bigger motorcycle rally's. They do form fitted ear buds like race car drivers (NASCAR). I purchased a set of form fitted earplugs to see if I could handle the buds in my ear. They have my molds on file to make the buds when I am ready. A little pricey but I have heard they work great and are also ear plugs as well as the ear buds. I can say this. After a long ride I feel more refreshed if I wear the plugs.
