phill12 Posted September 11, 2010 #1 Posted September 11, 2010 Heard today from K&N, Yamaha will not relase other Venture until 2012 or 2013. They showed a 2011 (Blue/black) in their dealer book. This must be left overs from 2009. I wonder what Yamaha is up to now for the touring market.
Freebird Posted September 11, 2010 #3 Posted September 11, 2010 K&N Yamaha. http://www.knmotorcycles.com/ They are probably one of the oldest Yamaha dealers in the nation and the owner Norm McDonald, was one of the original developers of the K&N filter. Thus the name K & N (Norm). I think that they probably are about as likely to know anything about the future Venture as anybody in the country but I'm still not 100% sure that it's not speculation. That being said, I pretty much agree with the time frame. I said before the announcement this year that there would NOT be a new Venture. My only question was if there would be one at all. I pretty much expect that there will be at least a year or two with no Venture before a new one is introduced.
LilBeaver Posted September 11, 2010 #4 Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) And why is there a 2011 Venture on the Yamaha website? Edited September 11, 2010 by LilBeaver K&N q already answered
Freebird Posted September 11, 2010 #5 Posted September 11, 2010 He said that they showed a blue one in the dealer book. That's the 2011, though I don't think it has the black. I honestly think that they are now just using up the stock of parts that they already have. I understand that's what the '93 was, just what they had left over in parts. Then it was 6 years before they introduced another Venture. I sure hope they don't wait that long this time.

I guess that Dark blue could be seen as a 'black' if the printing was dark or something. I guess I hadn't read the initial post carefully enough. That's what I get for 'responding while drowsy'.
JerryT Posted September 11, 2010 #7 Posted September 11, 2010 Stopped by my local dealer today for demo day. They also say no idea when the new RSV will appear but hope in the next couple of years. They claim to be the #5 venture dealer in the country and normally have RSV's in stock. Said they are only being alloted 1-2011 RSV and not to happy about it. Makes you wonder how many Yammy is producing this year and why not more if the dealers are asking for them. Good side is if they limit production, ours should hold value better for those looking to sell.
aharbi Posted September 11, 2010 #8 Posted September 11, 2010 I needed a bigger bike for two-up riding with my wife. I waited for two years for Yamaha to release a "new" Venture. Then decided to get a new Kawasaki Voyager when they announced it. Went to a bike show just to see the prototype model. Then they delayed the Voyager for a year. I was missing out on some good riding time and I'm not getting any younger so I bought a used Venture for less than half of what a new one would of cost. Very happy with it. Now I could care less if/when they come out with a "new" Venture. But I ain't gona pay $20 grand for an "out dated" bike. Yamaha keeps jacking the price up on the Venture to keep pace with the other touring class bikes but sorely lacks the technology of the competition. Slowly Yamaha is loosing their loyal customer base as their value statement keeps diminishing and falling behind the rest. I still believe a used Venture at less than half price of a new one is a good deal. But I'd look other then Yamaha for a new touring bike. just saying...

Maybe by European standards. Looks like they are matching it to the BMW RT/1300. It also shows that if they WANT TO they can put technology to work in their bikes.

aharbi Posted September 12, 2010 #14 Posted September 12, 2010 Been there...Did that..when we gonna have breakfast or meet up again? cant ride far at moment but getting cabin fever BAD Your call Tom. I'm retired, I can go anytime. Except the 18th & 19th I have to watch the grandkids while the women attend my middle daughters baby shower and again the next day when they go to a crafts show. Actually, just got back to riding again myself. I broke my tail bone back in May and it's still a little tender for long hours in the saddle. Did the Hill Country weekend before last (700 miles) rode thru Blanco on the way home and didn't do too bad. Grabbed a late lunch Riley's BBQ. I want to check out your new ride too!

Debron Posted September 12, 2010 #17 Posted September 12, 2010 Depends on your definition of "touring". Full fairing, large hard saddle bags, large hard trunk. If I'm touring, I want protection from the elements and places to put my stuff!
