Yamaha just doesn't release that information. I've even email Yamaha in Japan a couple of times over the years and never even got a response from them.

The Last 6 digits will tell you how many bikes of all types they built.

It's not a cumulative total for the intire model run, but a run for each year. 1stGens start out at 100. Not sure about RSV's. I own '99RSV #81.

Actually Vin digits 4-8 designate the model atributes, so the serial number does not reflect all models and is specific to Ventures. Therefore, the last 6 numbers in a Venture Vin represents the vehicles 'birth' position and the total Ventures built to that time....
