Freebird Posted September 3, 2010 #3 Posted September 3, 2010 Yamaha just doesn't release that information. I've even email Yamaha in Japan a couple of times over the years and never even got a response from them.

BradT Posted September 5, 2010 #11 Posted September 5, 2010 Do you think we might beable to figure it out by the vin #? The Last 6 digits will tell you how many bikes of all types they built. So, no ! Brad
Condor Posted September 5, 2010 #12 Posted September 5, 2010 The Last 6 digits will tell you how many bikes of all types they built. So, no ! Brad It's not a cumulative total for the intire model run, but a run for each year. 1stGens start out at 100. Not sure about RSV's. I own '99RSV #81.
Dano Posted September 5, 2010 #13 Posted September 5, 2010 I own '99RSV #81. So what you're saying here is that your bike is just as old and beat up as your 1st gens??
Condor Posted September 5, 2010 #14 Posted September 5, 2010 So what you're saying here is that your bike is just as old and beat up as your 1st gens?? Didn't want to get too far out of the groove. Old?.... yep. Beat up?....nah...!! Miss Piggy thinks she's a 1stGen.... http://l.yimg.com/eb/ymv/us/img/hv/photo/movie_pix/buena_vista_home_entertainment/the_muppet_show___season_one/_group_photos/miss_piggy5.jpg
BradT Posted September 5, 2010 #15 Posted September 5, 2010 but a run for each year. Yes I forgot to write that part. :rotf:But the largest number using the last 6 digits should be the total # of bikes that were made in that year, not specific to Ventures. Brad
Condor Posted September 5, 2010 #16 Posted September 5, 2010 (edited) Yes I forgot to write that part. :rotf:But the largest number using the last 6 digits should be the total # of bikes that were made in that year, not specific to Ventures. Brad Actually Vin digits 4-8 designate the model atributes, so the serial number does not reflect all models and is specific to Ventures. Therefore, the last 6 numbers in a Venture Vin represents the vehicles 'birth' position and the total Ventures built to that time.... Edited September 5, 2010 by Condor
Yammer Dan Posted September 5, 2010 #17 Posted September 5, 2010 Now all we have to do is find the highest number for each year and add them up. Yeah pretty simple.....
