Went and took the road test yesterday. Funny thing is the only thing I had a problem with was the u-turn. Had to put my foot down every time. Had 2 highway patrole officers watching me . Thats where it got funny. They set me up with an eight foot u-turn because of patole cruisers in the way. I explained to them that minimum on this bike is 114 inches . they said prove it and I showed it to them in my owners manual. One officer then said okay you pass, the second ( a motorcycle cop) said not to pass me as it can be done. Went and got his patrole bike and proceded to drop his bike twice trying to make that turn. last I heard from him was a few choice words that the pg rating in here will not allow me to post . the first officer was rather tickled by thgis as he said the second rider /officer was always bragging how he has nevedr lain down a bike in his life.

Needless to say I got my endorsement.

I can do a U turn inside of one lane of a residential road. I believe thats 12 feet of which about ten is used to do the turn.

120 inches.

I guess I missed why you had to take the test. Did you never have the endorsement or did you have to requalify due to tickets or something?

David, Ive been on a lerners permit. One of the many reasons youve never seen Laura and I double up. Its been 20 years since I had a motorcycle much less an endorsement. Therefore I chose to get the permit and get used to the bike. Permit was due to run out soon and as Im now comfortable on the bike I fugured go ahead and take the roadtest.

now I think I want to take the safety course and also maybey the ride like a pro class. they give one here in greensboro nc

He had a small frame bike( didnt pay attention to make) and couldnt turn it around. No way in this world I was handing him my baby after he dropped his twice and then acted like he did.

All I had to do was take one lap around the parking lot (never got the trike out of 1st gear). Otherwise...I would NOT have an M endorsement!

times do change, I went for my endorsement back in the mid 80's. after passing the written test, the lady asked where my motorcycle was. i held up my helmet and said it's in the parking lot. she asked if i had an accident or ticket on the way there. I said no and she said well you passed the driving test. i got my endorsement then and there.

i have kept it over the years that I did not have a scooter and am glad that I have.

now i just need to make the RLAP class in Houston before cold weather sets in (again). got rained out last year.

WOW I must be really OLD, when I got mine all I did was go in and ask for it, I do not remember even taking a written test. When I moved from Indiana to Omaha All I had to do was transfer. Now when I moved from Omaha to Illinois that was a totally different story.

I took the MSF course in July and the U-turn was the hardest part it took lots of practice and I finnally got it in the box they wanted. I think the instructor said it was 12 feet, I did hit the line on the graded test but I still passed.

Congrats on the "M" for maniac as my Dad use to say.
