royalstarjac Posted September 1, 2010 #26 Posted September 1, 2010 Glad you two are ok! It doesn't take much to total one, that plastic really adds up!
1sttenor Posted September 1, 2010 #27 Posted September 1, 2010 I too am glad you made it ok. They make more bikes!
eagleeye Posted September 1, 2010 #28 Posted September 1, 2010 Squid, I'm glad to hear that you both came out of a bad situation, relatively OK. Could have been worse as you know. Good luck shopping for a new bike. Are you going to be able to salvage any of your acc. off of the old bike? Steve
Condor Posted September 1, 2010 #29 Posted September 1, 2010 I feel your pain. Road Rash is nothing to take lightly. Hurts like 'H'. Glad you're both relatively OK otherwise.
Lone Eagle Posted September 1, 2010 #30 Posted September 1, 2010 Great to read you guys are relatively OK - sorry that that mishap occured.
Solodadof2 Posted September 1, 2010 #31 Posted September 1, 2010 Glad you are okay, I Know a member who totalled his bike and was able to remove all accessories installed. Ram Mounts, chrome, aftermarket seats, ETC. You may also conider a buyback in which case you could part the bike out or rebuild it if it is not bad.
csogbk Posted September 1, 2010 #32 Posted September 1, 2010 Kite I can't believe this! Thank God you are ok!!! I'm only 30 mins away so let me know if you need anything or I can do anything to help out!! I'm so glad you two are ok!! Was hoping to see you on a PGR mission tomorrow too!! csogbk

Guest RawHide Posted September 3, 2010 #35 Posted September 3, 2010 Like all of us says glad it is the bike and not you...enjoy the happy memories with the old and shop for the new! Better New than constant repairs on the old! Never know what is METAL DEEP (skin deep)!
Gamecock Posted September 4, 2010 #36 Posted September 4, 2010 I know the feeling; glad you are both okay! I got $13K for my 04 with 10K miles on it, I was surprised! Good luck on the hunt for the new one!!! Ben

N3FOL Posted September 5, 2010 #40 Posted September 5, 2010 I'm very glad to know that you and Mrs. KiteSquid are doing ok after the accident. Heal quick and happy shopping for a new bike. I hope you decide to stick with the Venture.
KiteSquid Posted September 8, 2010 Author #41 Posted September 8, 2010 I am uploading some photos of the RSV to Webshots.com URL to be posted soon. I test rode a 2010 Honda Gold Wing and I am 99% sure I want one.... Now to get the insurance claim settled and to find a new or used Gold Wing. Anybody know of any good deals on an ABS equipped Gold Wing? I will also be selling off some RSV accessories that were never installed or I took off before the wreck. Gotta inventory them and post to the classified section.

dr_bar Posted September 8, 2010 #44 Posted September 8, 2010 Glad to hear you're both okay... All things considered, that bike held up pretty good, I'm impressed that it's in as good shape as it is, despite being written off... Looking at the pictures was tough, as I'm riding the Blue/Black '07 as well.
KiteSquid Posted September 8, 2010 Author #46 Posted September 8, 2010 I was supprised that the cost of the damages was so high, but plastic parts are not cheep...
Jus Monkeyin Around Posted September 8, 2010 #47 Posted September 8, 2010 Glad you guys are ok, Thank God thats all that happened!!!
fxitdude Posted September 8, 2010 #48 Posted September 8, 2010 I am thinking if you have an 2007 Venture you should sell it right away. Totaled mine on 7-6-10 and State Farm paid $14,300.00 I could not figure that out either but was very happy. Glad to hear you and the misses are Ok.
FutureVentures Posted September 8, 2010 #49 Posted September 8, 2010 Glad to hear you're both "ok". One question if I may, based on this statement: "I got 1st degree road rash, a bruise on my chest where I broke the windshield and a really sore and bruised thigh where the clutch handle pressed against me. Neither of us have broken bones and MrsSquid is VERY thankful for wearing an armored textile jacket as it saved her shoulder." Any idea how she got road rash on her arm if she was wearing a jacket? Did the jacket tear, or ride up on her arm thus exposing it? Inquiring minds wanna know, for our own safety's sake. Best regards to a speedy recovery.
Red Rider Posted September 8, 2010 #50 Posted September 8, 2010 Frist thing, glad your ok. I hate to hear of any one getting hurt on a bike. What did they do with the bike? Are you selling it for parts? I ask cause I'd like to get a pillow top seat on my 2000 RSV.
