the axle is 18mm and the pinch bolt is a 8mm you can find out all the sizes in the tech thread and you can down load all the manuals that you will need it says for a 1999 but it is also for the same year bike you have good luck

Thanks for the info, however I must not have a stock axle. A 7/8 SAE almost fits it so I am thinking 22mm. I must have missed the the sizes on the thread old age I guess. :confused07:.

The stock front axle in my 05 RSV is 22mm, and the pinch bolt is a 6mm hex key.

It is just a matter of time for me to remove my front wheel to replace the tire. This thread serves as a good information for the size of the axle bolt.:thumbsup2: I think I have a 22mm bolt in my tool box :fingers-crossed-emo. Ride Safe.

i was just going by what the manual said

 

 

What you have refers to the diameter of the bolt shafts, not the nut socket size.

 

It is useful if looking for a replacement fastener.
