gibvel Posted August 27, 2010 #1 Posted August 27, 2010 Well this morning, on the way to work, I was passing a gas station that is right before the entrance to the highway (I-25) The exit to the gas station exits, pretty much, right into the SB exit lane and then you go over the overpass for the NB entrance. I take the NB entrance. There's lots of construction in this location right now so it's even more of a mess than usual. So I usually am a bit more cautious and go a bit slower in this area anyhow. Anywho... I'm tooling along and I see this guy on a bike sitting facing the way I'm headed, back to me, getting ready to leave the gas station. He wasn't at the pumps, kind of on the outskirts of the parking lot. My first thought is, I wonder if he's going to just buzz right onto the road, I'm traveling on, without stopping or looking. Keep in mind this is really, really early in the morning, like 1:15 am so, in his defense there aren't a boat load of cars out at this time of the morning. So I back off of the throttle a little more in anticipation of a possible bonehead move. My suspicions were realized when he just takes off, doesn't slow down or even look and pulls out right in front of me. Man I wish I could have found the horn button faster, but I did get in a good toot to let him know he should stop and look. Moral: It isn't only cagers that pull bonehead moves that can get you hurt!!
eazyduzzit Posted August 27, 2010 #2 Posted August 27, 2010 Stupid ain't fixed by riding a bike. Just look up "motorcycle crash" or something similar on Youtube and get get proof of it.
RandyR Posted August 27, 2010 #3 Posted August 27, 2010 Thanks for watching out for 'the other guy'. Its hard to ride/drive and not make a mistake once in a while
CaptainJoe Posted August 27, 2010 #4 Posted August 27, 2010 You just can't get through to some people. Two yrs ago a smith boy was killed on a crotch rocket going 115mph on a back road (Rt# 21). seems he hit a bulldozer parked in a yard bout 1/2 mile down the road from me. There is another lad on a crotch rocket who seems to have taken up where the former left off. Its only a matter of time before the odds catch up with him. Way to many deer around here not to mention drivers going 45mph and if your going over 100 it doesn't leave much room for error.
gibvel Posted August 27, 2010 Author #5 Posted August 27, 2010 This guy was on more of a cruiser. Still however, it was put it in gear and get out on the road. There was no hesitation at the end of the gas station drive, I mean NONE. And he didn't even look back to see if anyone was coming. Didn't even turn his head... Just straight out. If I'd have been a car, not thinking about what this guy might do, his life might have drastically changed. Hopefully he realized that.
Yammer Dan Posted August 27, 2010 #7 Posted August 27, 2010 1:15 a.m.??? He probably just left the bar! That was my thought! Having enough trouble holding that bike up.
gibvel Posted August 27, 2010 Author #8 Posted August 27, 2010 Come to think of it, he did go rather slowly down the clover leaf entrance ramp.
