Art708 Posted August 23, 2010 #2 Posted August 23, 2010 I am on my 4th Valk. I sell one, buy a new motorcycle and ride it for a few months then sell it and go back to a Valk. I haven't found anything to compare with the Valkyrie.
Tom Posted August 23, 2010 #3 Posted August 23, 2010 Dont know why Honda didnt promote the Valk Interstate..Those were sweet bikes also
Freebird Posted August 23, 2010 #4 Posted August 23, 2010 That was the decision that I had to make in '99 when I bought my RSV. It was the last bike I road before my purchase, a '99 Valk Interstate. I had ridden one a few miles earlier and had to stop by and ride another one before making my final decision. There were a LOT of things I liked about it but in my final analysis, it just wasn't as comfortable for ME as the RSV. They are fantastic bikes though.
gibvel Posted August 23, 2010 #5 Posted August 23, 2010 I haven't found anything to compare with the Valkyrie. Then why do you keep selling them?
flb_78 Posted August 23, 2010 #6 Posted August 23, 2010 The only thing that pushes me away from the Valk is the fuel mileage. It's an awesome machine.
casabroker Posted August 23, 2010 Author #7 Posted August 23, 2010 I got 30 mpg used to get maybe 38 on the Royal Star. Believe me it's worth every penny you'll spend on gas. 32 mi. on the tank is no big deal. All that power has to come from somewhere
pegscraper Posted August 23, 2010 #8 Posted August 23, 2010 Wow, you did steal that one too, especially with those bags on it. You even picked the right colors, red and white. I have to say I'm a bit jealous.
eazyduzzit Posted August 23, 2010 #9 Posted August 23, 2010 I've never ridden one, but I still love 'em. If I could have found a low mileage interstate, before I found the Ultra I would probably be riding one. I don't know why they quit making them. Congrats on the new ride!
Art708 Posted August 23, 2010 #10 Posted August 23, 2010 Then why do you keep selling them? Hoping to find a new bike that compares...so far I haven't, so I buy another Valk.
Squidley Posted August 23, 2010 #11 Posted August 23, 2010 Dont know why Honda didnt promote the Valk Interstate..Those were sweet bikes also I've never ridden one, but I still love 'em. If I could have found a low mileage interstate, before I found the Ultra I would probably be riding one. I don't know why they quit making them. Congrats on the new ride! It's actually quite simple, the Valk outsold the Goldwing for a couple of years. Honda didn't want one of their own line competing with the wing and after 5 years put the quash to it. Besides they had to sell more wings to pay for that new at the time 1800 engine...all a matter of economics. I seriously thought about a Valk interstate before I got the '99 I have now from Moose.
Snaggletooth Posted August 23, 2010 #12 Posted August 23, 2010 Nice......very nice. Been looking for another bike and I keep running into Valks. Not what I had in mind when I stated but they have a lot going for them. Might happen yet. Ya never know...ya know. Enjoy Mike
casabroker Posted August 23, 2010 Author #13 Posted August 23, 2010 You won't be disappointed, that's a fact! I am not lookin back, think I got a buyer for my 96 RS. When all said and done this upgrade will cost less than a grand.
Sleeperhawk Posted August 24, 2010 #14 Posted August 24, 2010 Well here is a link for a Valkerie, to me looks like a nice clean one http://gl1800riders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2581
Yeah, Just Dale Posted August 24, 2010 #15 Posted August 24, 2010 You'll love the Valk in terms of speed, power, handling (those 6 cylinders will definitely move you). Not so much for the seat and riding position. Even aftermarket seats don't compare to the "pillow top" seat on the RSV. The riding position is much more upright and in some ways a more natural sitting position. But the tailbone can get sore after a lot of hours in the saddle. I'm fortunate to have the best of both worlds, a 97 Valk (original bumblebee) and an 09 RSV. I started looking for the RSV after a trip out to Colorado (from Ohio) on the Valk last summer. Was awesome but had to high tail it home to get back in time for work (bad planning on my part). Did 900 miles the first day, 500 the second. After that decided that for that kind of long distance, 18 hour plus, riding days I needed something a bit more comfortable. Found a nice 09 RSV over the winter. It's great, like having a cadillac for comfort (RSV) and a porsche for adrenaline (Valk).
rod Posted August 24, 2010 #16 Posted August 24, 2010 I really wanted the Valk interstate but Rose was not comfortable and if mama is not happy no one is happy. Rod
