Brake Switch

Can anyone tell me how much trouble it is to replace the front brake switch that activates the brake light. Mine is shot and I have a new one on order.. I need to know if it is a relatively simple job to replace it or if I have to pay my local dealer $80/hour.

Which bike we talking...i'm thinking 2nd gen. For what I know about electrical you could write on a sheet of tp. But, I wouldnt think it is too hard with correct instructions...someone here will have those.

It is relativly simple on the 1st Gen ('85), there is some disassembly, as the quickest & easiest way in my way of thinking is to pull the windshield & back of dash cover, as well as the cover plate on the right handle arm. To route the wiring & make the connection.

I just replaced mine and removed a lot of pieces that I didn't have to. If on a 1st Gen like mine, you just have to remove the headlight assy. to get to the plug. 8 screws total. 2 on windshield cover, 2 on bottom of headlight cover, 2 on headlight assy. itself. 2 on handlebar cover. Hope this helps!!!

Sorry about the lack of details guys....I'm just starting to get into this computor stuff. The bike is a 85 Venture Royale, so I'm hoping that its the eight screws RONKENA was talking about. Thanks for the input!!!themarshal
