FROG MAN Posted October 29, 2007 #1 Posted October 29, 2007 Gasoline jumped 20 cents today. Were back to $3.05 for unleaded.Oil at $93 a barrel how many days till $100? The well tenders around here are driving pickups with V10's go figure.
Yammer Dan Posted October 29, 2007 #2 Posted October 29, 2007 In 1970 during a gas war I bought gas in Colorado springs for 11 cents a gallon.
Redneck Posted October 30, 2007 #3 Posted October 30, 2007 Don't worry as soon as there is global stability among all country's the price will stabilize. I'm predicting that will happen within a few days after hell freezes over.
Sailor Posted October 30, 2007 #4 Posted October 30, 2007 I am thinking of switching my truck to propane. My son has my old one and it has served us well. At half the price of gas it is worth it since I intend to keep the truck for years. Watch what is hapening in Alberta. The government there is trying to take a bigger royalty on the oil. Some companies are threatening to shut down production. Look for prices to jump soon.
Freebird Posted October 30, 2007 #5 Posted October 30, 2007 Propane where I live is not half the price. It's already up to about 2.45 per gallon and still going up. What kind of mileage do you get as opposed to gasoline? If you suffer in gas mileage, it will quickly wipe out the bit that you save.
Sailor Posted October 31, 2007 #6 Posted October 31, 2007 Propane has a higher octane than gas so if you tune for just propane you can get good mileage and power. There are no additives to gum things up so engines, oil, oil filters, spark plugs etc all last longer. The mistake people made was trying to set up the engine to run on both propane and gas. It did not run well on either because it was always out of tune. Now they have the electronics to reset the engine automatically. My older son has my old truck ('78 ford 150 4x4) it has been on propane since day one and is now well over 300,000 miles and still going strong with very little maintenance. My younger son just got his truck converted to dual fuel which should work well with the new electronics. Propane here went up to gas prices a few years ago and all the truckers and taxi fleets that were using it converted back to gas. The price of propane went right back to half the price of gas within a month.
