RSTD passenger Backrest on RSV

I removed the trunk on my 2004 RSV and purchased a 2005 RSTD quick release backrest on e-bay. I went to look at a RSTD to see what I would need to make it work. The rubber mounts and bolts shouldn't be any problem but there is a welded pin on the RSTD mount that secures the backrest. Has anyone been able to make this work in the past or is there a bracket(even if I have to bolt on and off) that will allow me to use the passenger backrest on my RSV?

I have an RSTD. The welded pin just puts the backrest into the lock position. Maybe you could just 'make' a pin by positioning and installing a small bolt of similar size in the same location that the pin is in.

Thanks for the input, yes installing a screw/bolt may work but I'll have to see if there is enough clearance to allow the latch to work if I have to use a nut to secure the screw/bolt.
