Yammer Dan Posted August 20, 2010 #1 Posted August 20, 2010 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Utopia-driver-backrest-/280551056609?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories Thought this might be great deal for somebody. Trying to find a 86 - 93 one but when I'm going any distance I have my bag back there and don't really need it.
Yammer Dan Posted August 20, 2010 Author #2 Posted August 20, 2010 Thought these were a hard to find item for 2nd Gens? Or most of them come with them?
sarges46 Posted August 20, 2010 #3 Posted August 20, 2010 Not hard to find at all Dan. Utopia is a very popular back rest for our bikes. This one is in Quebec and that may be why there is no interest. Although it is a real good price.
quinnjim Posted August 20, 2010 #4 Posted August 20, 2010 Thought these were a hard to find item for 2nd Gens? Or most of them come with them? Don't you have to cut into your stock seat to use these? I heard you did, so I've avoided them.
sarges46 Posted August 20, 2010 #5 Posted August 20, 2010 Nope, they go in between the driver and passenger seat. I had one on my 05 midnight. it is a nice back rest. My current bike has a cobra seat and the backrest is built right into it. The utopia for the first gen has be go through the seat though. I sold one of those to Rocket awhile back.

rickardracing Posted August 20, 2010 #7 Posted August 20, 2010 That is a darn good price!!! I paid $220 for mine from Utopia in the spring. I love it though. Made a big differance in long rides. If I did not have mine already............I would buy it now.
mountainhorsega Posted August 20, 2010 #8 Posted August 20, 2010 doggonit - you are just going to jack the price up!
Yammer Dan Posted August 20, 2010 Author #9 Posted August 20, 2010 Oooopps!! Almost a entire 2nd Gen on there right now. Good time to grab those parts that have fallen off while trying to catch the 1st Gens.....
Condor Posted August 20, 2010 #10 Posted August 20, 2010 Nice rest, but it's not removable. For long trips it's great, but for around town I'd prefer not to have one.... I have a Corbin on the '91 and theirs pops on and off. If I could find a Corbin one piece seat for the '99 at a decent price I'd pick one up and have the backrest pull double duty....??
Freebird Posted August 20, 2010 #11 Posted August 20, 2010 What do you consider a "decent price". I have a nice Corbin complete with drivers backrest sitting in my garage. It belongs to Bob Dakin and he wants to sell it. Make an offer.
quinnjim Posted August 20, 2010 #12 Posted August 20, 2010 doggonit - you are just going to jack the price up! You'll never get it......I'm gonna snipe it with 10 seconds to go!

mountainhorsega Posted August 20, 2010 #14 Posted August 20, 2010 You'll never get it......I'm gonna snipe it with 10 seconds to go! You are closer to it - wonder if that will make your bids go faster. Just go ahead and tell me what your max bid is going to be - you may not even have to worry! If it had a buy it now, you probably wouldn't have got the chance:no-no-no:
Freebird Posted August 20, 2010 #15 Posted August 20, 2010 What's he been asking for it. And how old, and condition..... I don't know how old it is or how much he is asking for it. I'll find out. It's in excellent shape though. He brought it out on Maintenance day and it is still here.

Freebird Posted August 20, 2010 #17 Posted August 20, 2010 Here you go. If you want to contact him directly, he is RJD on here.
Condor Posted August 20, 2010 #18 Posted August 20, 2010 Here you go. If you want to contact him directly, he is RJD on here. Thanks Don... Gotta ask. Is that style backrest removable?? The one on the '91 is a post affair with a small flap to cover the hole once it's off...
Freebird Posted August 20, 2010 #19 Posted August 20, 2010 Yes, same thing. It's a post and when you pull it out, there is a flap that covers the hole.

If it had a buy it now, you probably wouldn't have got the chance:no-no-no: Just kidding....I want a backrest, but it has to be removable. I won't be bidding on this one.
Condor Posted August 21, 2010 #22 Posted August 21, 2010 Yes, same thing. It's a post and when you pull it out, there is a flap that covers the hole. Thanks Dan. Sent him an email...

Freebird Posted August 22, 2010 #24 Posted August 22, 2010 I don't know of anybody who makes a removable backrest for the RSV unless you change the seat also.
