Went to the Gastown motorcycle show 'n Shine yesterday. Loads of amazing bikes there and so many people came out as the weather was hot. Sorry, no pics...forgot the camera at home. ENNYHOO ... Honda Canada was doing demo rides so Nina & I got to take a spin on a Wing. Now this was the second time I rode a newer Wing but the first time for Nina to ride. Most of the demo was in heavy city traffic but did get to see how it handled on the highway and in corners as well...even a tight 90 degree one at 3 times the posted limit (which was 20 km/h) and I think I dragged something on that one!

Well, for those who have one, you know what I'm talkin about here. This bike is nothing short of a breeze to drive. It takes the corners effortlessly. It weaves thru heavy traffic on the freeway without even thinking about it. I looked where I wanted to go and it was if the scoot read my mind because in a flash, I was there. And the POWER!!! It's awesome! Slow speed balance is far superior to our RSMV ... even just coming to a stop ... I could practically come to a full stop and not even put my foot down... Oh yeah, and REVERSE sure was nice getting it back into the parking spot!

The downside ... and I only have two.

Nina found the seat too "recliner style" ... if that makes any sense. She prefers to sit up straighter but the seat seemed to force her to slouch. ... no biggie... we can fix that.

In opposite, I found the seat caused me to sit up straighter ... but that is ok except the handlegrips were lower than I like ... again, no biggie... we can fix that.

So, in as much as WE like our RSMV .... sometime before next summer it will most likely be replaced with a WING.

See ya at that other "dark side".

I tried the New Wing, I liked the ride however I can not stretch out my legs as much as on the RSV.

Joe

True... it will take some getting used to the footpegs (but all my prev bikes were footpegs); however, highway pegs are available.

With the hiway pegs on my wing I can fully extend my legs if I want to.:Venture:

Question for ya ... both Wings I rode were 2003 models (yes, the Honda dealer was demoing used bikes). I found that both of them seemed to "bang" and have what seemed to be something loose near the rear when going over bumpy areas on the street such as railroad tracks or potholes.

Is this normal?... maybe just the plastic rattling? Seemed the rear suspension hits harder than the RSV.

If you did not adjust the air it could have just been a good bump.

The preload on the rear is adjustable. From 0 to 25 lbs. They may have been set on the high side.

The lid on the trunk sometimes rattles over bumps. It is easily fixable

with some rubber "bumpers".

Glad you liked the ride.

Wait till you check out the heated seats and grips. Awesome if you like to ride in cool/cold weather. Not to mention the ABS and airbag. Nav system, xm radio, weather band etc...:dancefool:

I bought the ERGO style footpegs and then bought the 1 inch extension instead of the 6 inch that comes with them..GREAT leg position on the fwd pegs now. Also put on floorboards as the pegs arent my thing AND your toes will hang down on the pegs and drag when cornering hard. As you say it is effortless to corner with..scary at times when you realize how far over you are. Its taking me some time on the cornering as I am use to counter steering on my RSV..you countersteer on this it better not be much or you will get in it to quick. Im at the point where a twitch of the body and its cornering big time. I love the way I can go thru towns and even at 25MPH in 5th gear just roll on the throttle and you are gone. I bought a Clearview windshield,4 inch taller than stock,3 inches wider and no wind buffetting on me or the wife.

Everything that tom said and more. I just turned 10,000 miles on mine for this year and it has the rattle as if something is loose in the bags. All is tight, might be the tool pouch or stuff in the trunk that I put in compartment. The bike feels like the rear end has to much slack in it or the transmission when shifting. I miss the gear display, some times I forget to shift down when coming to a complete stop. I have taken off in third gear and the bike only dogs down slightly off idle. Tom is right about the cornering, when you use counter steering to corner it's like the bike is on a train track and it can't fall off. you will also like the power output of the alternator and not discharging at stops.

I often contemplate selling my RSV for another wing. After my last trip came to an end, I was feeling a bit cramped on my RSV and thinking that I could be on a wing and feel the same way (with highway pegs of course) so... Hmmm...

wait till ya try the newer model with the feet warmers:big-grin-emoticon:

it took me about 3 days to get used to the pegs over the floorboards but now dont even give em a second thought

also i found that setting up straight thing to in the beginning now i found i do slouch a bit when im alone so it can be done

and cornering is just like you said Awsome!!!! my fist day i scraped the pegs and still do she loves to corner; and wind her up like ya talk about with the VR 35 in first and 75 in second oh ya she will gooooooooooo!!!!!:7_6_3[1]:

Anything NEW will be beyond my price range unless I win the Lotto. I'll be looking at Wings somewhere between 2001 & 2004 when I am ready to make that move.
