Drkngas Posted August 14, 2010 #26 Posted August 14, 2010 I've got the Butler mod and a Mustang seat. I like the Butler mod alot but I have been on a Mustang seat on my Magna for the last 6 years and I seem to be able to go farther on the Mustang. I do wish the Mustang was longer in the seat. I use a home made sheepskin cover made from 2 wash mits that I bought at Walmart for $5 each with a sewn on non-slip kitchen drawer pad for another $1. Great for Texas heat. My next seat investment for the long haul will be an Airhawk Cushion. http://www.bikercushion.com/Medium-Cruiser-Cushion-p/cruisermedium.htm here is the sheepskin http://i34.tinypic.com/295siz5.jpg
cb1313 Posted August 14, 2010 #27 Posted August 14, 2010 the pads at my w/m where right next to the car seat covers. There were about 10 of them yesterday at my store Mountain Home, Akensas, anyone want me to get them one + shipping. Cb
naturbar Posted August 14, 2010 #28 Posted August 14, 2010 picked one up last night at Walmart in auto section - it is in fact a gel cushion with a mesh covering - rode it home (8 mi.) and in that short distance it seemed more comfy - i will give it a good test run today and report back. i bought the Walmart beads several weeks ago and fashioned it for my seat - i even cut a tailbone relief hole in it and place non skid material under it. it is definitely more comfy and you can really feel the air flow under it. so between the beads and the gel pad i hope to have a winning combo - btw i have had the butler mod done as well.
naturbar Posted August 14, 2010 #29 Posted August 14, 2010 wife & i did about 200 mi. today - the gel pad did better than i expected - only the smallest amount of butt burn - the wife says she likes it too. so for me it is a thumbs ups. btw i also added the utopia backrest and between it and the pad it makes a big difference. i did however have to drill two additional holes in my utopia bracket to get the backrest to hit me lower in the back.
Eck Posted August 15, 2010 #30 Posted August 15, 2010 I bought mine around May of last year for my wing. Got mine at Wally World. I use it very often and I also place the beaded seat, on top of the gel pad seat for a different configuration and feel... When I get tired of riding one way, I remove the beads and use only the gel pad.. then I may even remove the gel pad and ride on the stock seat.. It is nice to be able to change them around for comfort variations.
CalhounWV Posted August 16, 2010 #31 Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) I picked up a couple of the w/m gel pads, one for driver and one for passenger. Wife is measuring, cutting and sewing them for a custom fit on our RSTD. Will follow up on how the mod goes. 8/16/10 I went for a little ride today, 50 miles with the gel pad, 50 miles back with bead-rider beads... seems for that short distance, I like the gel pad my wife modified to fit the seat better. The beads were very cool, and I could feel the air flow under me. my 2 cents worth. Edited August 16, 2010 by CalhounWV update
