Just purchased a sidecar for our 2000 Venture. Had to put on a damper to stop the wobble. Steers like a truck now without power steering.

Has anyone put a sidecar on their Venture and experienced serve wobble?

Looking for suggestions, advice, etc.

Thanks,

Bill

Sure sounds like the sidecar tire is not properly aligned.I have a sidecar on my 99 .thought about a damper but minr steers pretty good without one.

I just put a champion sidecar on mine this week. It has a power level system that really helps it from drifting depending on the crown of the road.

Mine has a slight wobble ( very slight ) between 20 and 25 MPH. I noticed it yesterday ( first time out ) but with 200 miles on it now I don't even notice it at all.

It takes some getting use to thats for sure. ( It gives the upper body a good workout in the twisties ). I didn't put the steering dampener on mine and don't think I will need one.

Its great on the highway ran it up to 80 and it ran nice. Don't forget it might pull some to the left when breaking and to the right when giving it the gas.

If the toe in is not set right it will be all over the road.

check the toe in and the level of the car.

I have never driven a bike with a sidecar.

I do have a 1950 H-D FL. All 1950 FL's came from the factory with lugs welded in the frame to accept side cars.

They all also came with an adjustable steering damper.

A FEW bikes came from the factory with adjustable rake angle on the triple trees......

A side car on a 2nd Gen. Interesting. Could someone post some pics? I would really like to see how it looks. Been looking for something I could haul my Beagle around in.

Thanks

Ok some pic's of my sidecar. Its a champion sidecar Legion model. I picked it up a few weeks ago for a great price. So far I have around 200 miles on it and have to say I like it but its going to take some getting use to.

After 45 years of riding on 2 wheels riding with a sidecar is like starting all over again.

I had the same guys install mine that installed yours they did a nice job ( thanks for their # )

I like the way mine is mounted.I took the sidecar off, need rear shock and brakes.Took about 1 hour to remove but that was with trial and error.I can now remove it in 15 minutes.Found the best order to remove the 4 mounting bolts and I put a plug on the wires so I can just disconnect them for removal. And yes you are right, takes some getting used to but it is a blast cruising with the sidecar.

Thanks for all the responses. I figured their were some out there with a Venture.

I will do some checking onn the setup.

One thing I think I forgot to mention was that I put a narrow tire on the front for better control at slow speeds when two up. Anyone think that could be the problem also?

Hope the photos came through.

Thanks for all the help.
