rod Posted August 10, 2010 #1 Posted August 10, 2010 Help, I was hit on 6-28-2010 and the responsible party's insurance has not done any thing yet. The claim agent is Andrea Doolittle from Portland Or, working for Chartis Ins who took over fron AIG. The home office is Chartis PO box 25588 Shawnee Mission Kansas 66225. the phone is 1-800-242-2923 ex 2515 the claim # is 684322712. I have done my best with my insurance to get anything from them. My medical bills are coming in and I have no insurance other than the San Diego VA. I do not want to take the Dr time from the Veterans in need. Could I get your help contacting the company till they respond? Thank you Rod Fleming Spring Valley Ca
Mike G in SC Posted August 11, 2010 #2 Posted August 11, 2010 My sister got hit by a jerk, and his insurance company started playing games. I told her to call her insurance company and have them get in on it. She did. They did. My understanding (if you have full coverage) is that you can request your insurance company to "take over". You will basically loose your deductable but hers took care of her compensations and then THEY delt with the other company. Call your insurance company back and see if this may be so.
rlyons Posted August 11, 2010 #3 Posted August 11, 2010 Join BAM. It is free and the assistance is free. It also comes in really handy if you break down somewhere on the road. You can call them at 1-800-4-BIKERS or go to their web site. http://www.russbrown.com/what-is-bam.html
MikeWa Posted August 11, 2010 #4 Posted August 11, 2010 Get an attorney who specializes in accidents. It will be worth your time in the end. Mike
jburrell Posted August 11, 2010 #5 Posted August 11, 2010 Tell your insurance company you want them to "suborgate" the claim. Basically they can pay you and then go after the other insurance company This is done all the time. You are being a little fast on the draw though. It takes a while to resolve these. The other company is used to having to wait until you are almost completly healed before they start paying up. Use you std medical insurance if you have it and tell the dr's etc that this is from an accident and see if they will file against them. Lastly dont be in a hurry to get healed. The longer you take to heal the more they expect to have to pay you. Ask ECK about his experience. My wifes claim took 2 yrs
Evan Posted August 11, 2010 #6 Posted August 11, 2010 Sounds like you are getting some good advice - Good Luck!
Black Owl Posted August 11, 2010 #7 Posted August 11, 2010 Or you can file a complaint with the State Insurance Commissioners office.
rod Posted August 12, 2010 Author #8 Posted August 12, 2010 Got a lawyer and a call from the insurance late in the day with BS excuses. Looking like a long recovery. Thanks Rod
