Ignition coil question

My 86 VR will start up normal. I'll let it warm up for a while then take off. The bike will run rough until its fully warmed up. Its running rough longer than I think it should under the guise of being "cold blooded"..

 

Could this symptom possibly be a coil going bad?

The first thing I would do is check the basic tune up items. I would also take a look at the spark plug caps. They can get corroded inside in the resistor and will fire intermittenly.

I ordered new caps and plug wires today..I'll change those first and see what results I get..Who knows, I might get lucky

My 1986 vr started running rough,felt like running out of gas, with some backfiring. Checked ohms (pickup coils & ignition coils) there OK. Running on front 2 cyls. Any ideas?

Always remove the spark plugs immendiately when this happens. Then look at them and hit the starter...do you have spark? Or quicker, just carry spare plugs and disconnect from old and connect to spare, hold it against the head...is there spark? No spark it's wires caps or other electrical. Spark Yes...it's carbs too rich.
