Mischevious Posted August 10, 2010 #1 Posted August 10, 2010 Im a pretty good size guy and the wife and I are trading in our Suzuki VL1500 for a 1999 Royal Start Venture. One problem. I dont like the after market touring seat on it. My question is where can I find the OEM seat or at least see what it looked like before I buy one? Thanks for the warm welcome to the sire.
1sttenor Posted August 10, 2010 #2 Posted August 10, 2010 Just go to a Yama dealer. Same seat for years.
Mischevious Posted August 10, 2010 Author #3 Posted August 10, 2010 WOW thanks for the quick reply. the one problem is there are no yamaha dealers near by. Is the stock seat a little roomier than the touring seats?
kj5ix Posted August 10, 2010 #4 Posted August 10, 2010 Pin Wall on Ebay has them. $89.95 for each seat. beats dealer price..
eusa1 Posted August 10, 2010 #5 Posted August 10, 2010 where are you located in iowa? we have several members that would be glad to meet with you, heck i'm always looking for another reason to go to iowa.. mike
massey130 Posted August 10, 2010 #6 Posted August 10, 2010 I dont have a direct answer, but we have the stock pillow top seat that many folks here have. we like it very much. I have sat on many stock seats and not liked them, but that's me. opinions vary as much as the size of the butts that get put on seats and is thus an idividual thing. for some quick reading on what others use and their opinion of seats, use the search button and put corbin or mustang or butler and you will see just what has gone on with so many members in their quest for the right seat. also in the classifieds you may find a seat to suit your fanciness that was replaced by a what ever seat. welcome to the site. ride safe.
Mischevious Posted August 10, 2010 Author #7 Posted August 10, 2010 Have you got a link handy? Search for Pin Wall turns up a ton of useless stuff LOL
wes0778 Posted August 10, 2010 #8 Posted August 10, 2010 The '99s didn't come with pillow top. Driver's back rest is not stock. Oh, white stuff is from a snow storm we had, last winter.
Mischevious Posted August 10, 2010 Author #9 Posted August 10, 2010 Now I like the look of that seat. The one I have is more vertical and takes alot of room away from the driver
kj5ix Posted August 10, 2010 #10 Posted August 10, 2010 Have you got a link handy? Search for Pin Wall turns up a ton of useless stuff LOL Ebay: search "royal star venture seat" 5 or 6 showed up this afternoon they are in Ohio, keep watching what they put on if you need parts.
Mischevious Posted August 10, 2010 Author #11 Posted August 10, 2010 is there a year spread I should look for? Mine is a 1999
kj5ix Posted August 10, 2010 #12 Posted August 10, 2010 All are the same to 06 or 07 when they came out with the pillow top option...
Mischevious Posted August 10, 2010 Author #13 Posted August 10, 2010 Cool Thanks everyone for the quick replies. You are all awsome
eusa1 Posted August 10, 2010 #14 Posted August 10, 2010 the seats were the same from 1999 to 2001 on the standard models the seat was the same on the mm model only in tan color for the 2000mm the seats on the 1999 to 2005 midnight models were the same with chrome studded trim the pillow top model seats came out in 2002 and are still used to date all models of standard and midnights have the pillow tops as of 2006 mike
midnite Posted August 10, 2010 #15 Posted August 10, 2010 I've got a set of seats from a '99 Midnite, if your interested, pm me. Seats are in good shape. They are on my '09 right now while mine are at Rick's being butt-lerized.
Freebird Posted August 10, 2010 #16 Posted August 10, 2010 As stated, there have been a couple of changes over the years but ANY of them are interchangeable as far as fit. You say you have an aftermarket seat on it now. Do you know what brand it is? There are several aftermarket seats available, Corbin, Russell, Travelcade to name a few. I have a Corbin on mine and love it but with the Corbin people either love it or hate it. Not much middle ground. I have a used Corbin in my garage that belongs to a friend and he wants to sell it.
BigBoyinMS Posted August 10, 2010 #17 Posted August 10, 2010 Whatever you do be sure to get the pillow top. I'm a big guy too at over 300 and the RSV is the only bike I have ever owned that I can actually ride fill-up to fill-up comfortably.
