Ignition start button

Over the last week, the RSV would not start when I hit the start button. At first I thought maybe I did nto have the stand all the way up, although I was in Neutral anyhow. Checked it then hit the button again and it started. It has doe this 3 or 4 times in the last week.

Today, I discovered that when I push the button with a slight upward pressure, no start. Slight downward pressure, start. I am assuming that the contact on the start button is wearing out.

Common?

Bike still has 1 1/2 yr warranty, but I don't want to be stuck somewhere with the bike not starting.

Not sure about the start button but the push to talk button on my 99 did that last year.

 

Cleaned the contacts and not been a problem since
