Yammer Dan Posted August 6, 2010 #1 Posted August 6, 2010 New Oil change and bike is still hard to shift. Neutral is hard to find. I bled it out with all new Val Sync fluid in it. Time to rebuild Slave Cylinder??
Squeeze Posted August 6, 2010 #2 Posted August 6, 2010 I'd check the Shift lever and all the Pivot Points first. Lube all of them and look at the Angles of the Knuckles, if the are not at a 90 Degree Angles, their don't make shifting easier.

Time to rebuild Slave Cylinder?? Could be the slave, but make absolutely sure you have all of the air out of the line first. With a few trapped bubbles you won't get 100% slave travel when you pull on the lever. Also, if you find it is the slave, don't rebuild, get a new one. See Rick at Buckeye. The last time I picked one up from Rick it didn't cost a heck of a lot more than the rebuild kit... Something like $42 bucks for the kit and $65 for a new slave...
Yammer Dan Posted August 6, 2010 Author #4 Posted August 6, 2010 Thanks Guys. I already got a rebuild kit I snatched off E-bay Jack. It don't feel like it has air I guess should take it apart and clean. I've rebuilt the shift levers and should have some new parts here somewhere. Very hard to shift got to be something. My others shift smooth as silk when they are right.
jburrell Posted August 6, 2010 #5 Posted August 6, 2010 Be srue to check the Master Cylinder too. I rebuilt my slave and it turned out to be a problem with the master Cylinder. You can rebuild it too if need be. my
Yammer Dan Posted August 6, 2010 Author #6 Posted August 6, 2010 Master seemed to be pumping good when I replaced fluid.
mbrood Posted August 11, 2010 #7 Posted August 11, 2010 I noticed that my clutch fluid needed bled to get good clutch action and then a couple days later`would need it again. The rebuild kit went in fairly easy and the seals that came out were deteriorated to little more than gum rubber, able to be crumbled in my fingers. Sure solved the problem.
KiteSquid Posted August 11, 2010 #8 Posted August 11, 2010 I bled it out with all new Val Sync fluid in it. I hope you used DOT 3/4 and NOT DOT 5 fluid.
cecdoo Posted August 12, 2010 #9 Posted August 12, 2010 Hey Dan, squeeze the clutch handle in, let it out about an inch then put a wire tie on it, to hold it there. Let it sit over nite. Dont cost a thing and it works! Craig
