DesertRider Posted August 5, 2010 #1 Posted August 5, 2010 I was up late tonight doing a little casual research on the web and ran across an article with some pretty interesting facts about things like what oil manufacturers viscosity numbers really mean, sulfur and zinc content, and some other good tips about our engine oil. It was a pretty good read for me so I thought I pass the link along. http://www.cycleconnections.com/articledetail.asp?TypeID=23&ID=345
Hummingbird Posted August 5, 2010 #2 Posted August 5, 2010 That is a good read, unfortunately for me - it's too long. Not that it's uninformative, quite the contrary, however, not being an engineer of any type, most of it is greek to me. I did glean a few particulars that were interesting - Thanks for posting
Condor Posted August 5, 2010 #3 Posted August 5, 2010 Thanks for the link. I too thought it was a little long... short attention span.... but still worth coping the text to a .doc file and saving it for future info....
KiteSquid Posted August 8, 2010 #4 Posted August 8, 2010 To sum up what was said in the article: Use the proper weight oil from your owners manual. Use the lowest viscosity spread in a multi weight oil. Use full synthetic. Change it often.
