Sylvester Posted August 4, 2010 #1 Posted August 4, 2010 After 107 years, HD is talking of leaving Milwaukee. www.yahoo.com/_ylt=AtCUU4UJ_XcSsigw0gt8BlSbvZx4;_ylu=X3oDMTJwcjU1dGNpBGNwb3MDNQRlZAMxBGcDY2QzOTA0MzNjYmExMmMwOTk5OTU1NTkyYzdiZjAyZmEEaW50bAN1cwRzZWMDaW5fbmV3cwRzbGsDbndzLXRpdGxlBHRlc3QDNzAx
MasterGuns Posted August 4, 2010 #2 Posted August 4, 2010 Man, if HD moves I will surely feel for those that loose their jobs. But if they must move, I hope they move it here.
Flyinfool Posted August 4, 2010 #3 Posted August 4, 2010 I do not think that they really have any serious plan to move, they are just after some of the free money that the state keeps dishing out every time a big employer threatens to move. That and trying to get there hands a little deeper into their employees pockets. This comes up every time it gets close with union negotiations.
TEW47 Posted August 5, 2010 #4 Posted August 5, 2010 I read that they are going to open a factory in INDIA, building one in China. tew47
Guest scarylarry Posted August 5, 2010 #5 Posted August 5, 2010 Changes has to be made if they want to keep a float we all know that, and we all know that venture from the factory is 10k cheaper than HD trick out like a venture. Then there is the maint. on them is higher and more detail trans. fuild small things like that adds up and the average Joe looks at the cost to maintain down the road.. Don't get me wrong I like HD and I hope they do survive, but as time changes so do people, we look for more of the cruisier type V-4's and 6 cyls. I for one pull away from the V-twin for many reasons....

RandyR Posted August 5, 2010 #7 Posted August 5, 2010 Harley has too much mystique built up around being American built to move out of the country.
mrich12000 Posted August 6, 2010 #9 Posted August 6, 2010 Who knows.. But thank you for the weather ap..
Zane Posted August 6, 2010 #10 Posted August 6, 2010 Have you ever checked the content of Harleys lately? A disturbing amount of the parts in them are made offshore! I.E. Japan!
Dano Posted August 6, 2010 #11 Posted August 6, 2010 A few months ago they were looking at property about a mile and a half away from my house for a plant to replace the York PA plant. Kinda glad they didn't accept it, would've been nice for the county and property taxes but I'm glad we won't have to put up with the noise and traffic.
Tom Posted August 7, 2010 #12 Posted August 7, 2010 Was on the news today that Texas is really courting HD to build in San Antonio..We have a Toyota Truck plant here and alot of vendors coming in..we will see..
