Good Morning Everyone!

I'm about to ride the Blue ridge 2 up on my 08 RSV. I was wondering if anyone would suggest to me what I should check over before I go. I presently have 10K on the bike and will be riding about 1200 miles.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Not sure when you plan to leave for this trip, but if you have the time....

Make out an emergency contact card and hang it around your neck every time you get on the bike. Being out of state, no one will know you or who to contact in the case of an emergency.

Check your brake fluid and clutch fluid levels.

Change you oil and Filter now (unless you did so not to long ago)

If time permits, remove the rear wheel, clean and grease those hub pins.

Tires seem to last around 7 to 10k miles on the RSV..

Make sure your tires don't need replaced before leaving for this trip.

Take a coat.. It gets cold up there in those mountains...

Adequate rain gear will be required..

Cell phone charger... Mine was hooked directly up to the bike in the trunk.. it could be charging while I was riding..

Take a map.. just in case your GPS goes Ka-put...

Take extra Fuses...and some tools..

Take me with you............:biker:

post up dates that youll be on the blue ridge . There are a few of us that are close enough to maybey get a day in and meet up with you and also be able to help if kneeded. Id try to download the vr members that are willing to help with problems. I think there is a list on the site somehwere.

If all goes well I'll be leaving Pittsburgh area Aug 28, This is the first long trip I will be taking on the bike so thank you for all your suggestions. I already changed the tires and lubed the hub pins but other than that I thought I would take advantage of the advice from those of you who take longer trips more frequently.

Thanks Again

Have a great time? Take a tire repair kit and maybe add "ride on" to your tires for safety. I am heading that way in late septemter. Everyone has great ideas here but one that may be better than a card around you neck is to add an entry into your cell phone for an Emergency contact. It should be entered as ICE then name and number. I-IN C=case E Emergency IN CAse of Emgergency. EMT's etc will look for this if something happens. Be sure to check your bike often for loose bolts etc. And as mentioned, take a coat and be sure to take along water and keep hydrated. You may not realise that the heat and wind is taking a toll, until too late. Drink lots of water while riding in august weather.

Again have a great time and be careful. Remember the turns on that road can be dangerous and several have died this year on it due to not being able to make the turns due to speed. Make it back ok and then post your pictures for us to envy.
