If I had to get a Harley the Road Glide would be it. Though I'm not crazy about the throttle by wire think they could improve on it. I cant seem to keep a steady speed as well. Though I applaud them for trying.

I guess there are thousands of people who would like to own one of these. I just not one of them. Sorry.

Me too, I'm just not a HD customer for clothing accessories or MCs.

Push rods?

Air cooled?

Marching in line with my HD coat, wallet, stickers, boots, shirt, hat, etc.; is something I can never do.

I have tatoos, but none of then have HD in them

I'd rather go riding & I don't mean riding in formation to pretend I'm cool. I mean riding (over 10K per year).

I wish I could get the engine & technology of the BMW K 1300 GT in a Venture style build.

How come some manufactures continue to increase engine displacement to marginally increase HP/Torque, while BMW can get 160HP out of a 1300cc?

Now for the disclaimers...

This is merely my viewpoint. I'm happy for all HD owners, including my neighbor who never invites me to ride with him & who always has something to do when I invite him. Even the people at work, that had a Bike Day & excluded me with my Venture.

Wait... sorry for that bit of bitterness.

I do have HD owners who ride with me & are great people. They just aren't in my neighborhood or where I work.

Now if I hear one more slap about my old Cassette Player...

All I can think of is... Push Rods? Air Cooled? HAR HAR

Just stirring the pot in hopes of continued fun.

Boy that 160HP BMW engine & technology is cool!

I rode my friends Harley (that the one that looks like a Road King without the trunk) yes it easier to balance and manage but if felt a lot smaller than my Venture,

Up until the 09 frame redesign the HD touring bikes wheelbase was a fair amount smaller than the Venture, I think the same as a V-star 650.

the v-rod motor was an attempt to modernize that did'nt work. it's not big enough for a tourer and the harley crowd won't accept it.

Well the Harley crowd did not accept it, but hardly too small. 1250 cc, 125hp, 109 at the rear wheel with 79ftlbs torque at the rear wheel. The Venture 1300 cc has 77hp and 74ftlbs torque at the rear wheel, and the 2006 Road King (much larger engine, 1580cc) only had 62hp and 67ftlbs torque at the rear wheel.

OK I finally found it! I do not know how old some of you are but I have been riding and reading about motorcycles a long time. The V-rod is not the first Harley/Porsche collaboration on a water cooled bike! There was a bike called the NOVA V-4 back in the late '70s that was manufactured by Harley with a Porsche motor that never came to be, why I do not know or remember but here is the link to the story I found on line enjoy:

There are some similarities to the V-rod, the V-rod is not all new innovation!

Specs. on 3 bikes:

Year and model-------2008 HD RK---------2009 HD RK------------Yamaha RSV

Overall length--------------93.7"-----------------97"---------------104.5"

Wheel base----------------63.5"-----------------64"----------------67.1"

These measurement clearly show a big difference in size of the bikes, most of which is in the rider/passenger accommodations. I still recommend sitting on a full dresser in the show room with your better half before putting any money down you'll find that is laking in the room department especially with a rider back rest installed.

On my venture I need to lean back some to know if my wife is still there.

Why can Harley manufacture a chassis that would allow more space and give the costumer a choice. :confused24:

I tuly believe that if you feel the HD lineup has the machine for you, then you need to buy it. I have owned many over my fifty+ years of riding and for the most part they served me well.

I've been looking at Road Glides, wishing they had a tour pack. Oh well I'll have to wait a couple of years to get a used one.

My best friend has a 2005 Vivid with 29K miles or so, He has added the Utlra trunk. He is selling due to some financial issues. Its a nice bike and well cared for with lots of upgrades. If you are interested, IM me and I can get you details.
